This works wonderfully
We bought this in 2020. Works great. Amazing how easy to deal with. Only have to add kosher salt occasionally. No more chemicals, testing....bla bla bla.

This unit does turn the salt into chlorine but PLEASE CALL YOUR SPA BUILDER BEFORE YOU USE IT.
I gave the Salton unit 5 stars because when we tested the water it was always within spec. The unit worked great making our Evolution spa water less chemical reliant. UNTIL, two months into using the salt system we were gone for two weeks and left the tub on its normal recirculate setting. When we got home we noticed our hot tub jets had started rusting badly. Within a couple of days the water was really turning orange and most of the metal surrounds on the jets were corroded. We had the spa for about 10 years using the normal spa chemicals with no issues. It still looked new. We ASSUMED a spa we purchased from Costco would be equipped with stainless steel hardware. We assumed wrong. Now the spa is useless junk. Too expensive to replace 80+ jets on a ten year old spa.Moral is this product does what it says so we can't fault the product. It was our mistake by not asking the right questions from the spa builder BEFORE we tried using the Salton system.

Does the job!
This is my second purchase of this item since the first purchase went so well! The first one lasted eight years and kept my hot tub water well within all test parameters. I only had to add salt occasionally. Salt water is corrosive, and I have had to replace the heater every three years or so since switching to it. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to switch to salt water!

Great little device.
My last one worked for about four years. It is a great solution for a small pool or hot tub. My pool is 800 gallon. The element never had to be replaced though they are available. I love the convenience of being able to to pull out the drop in element to swim or soak. I keep my pool covered and heated. I wish it had a power button. It just goes to sleep when you pull the element out of the water. It comes with a little basket to hang up the element when not in use and the controller also has screw holes at top to mount to a hard surface. Mine is left outside all season with no issues from rain so I guess it is pretty water tight when mounted properly.

so easy
I changed my (small, 3-person if one is a child, 350 gallon) hot tub from Bromine to this. The Spa Frog setup just wasn't working anymore I was constantly having to fiddle with it, too much bromine, not enough bromine, crap gotta buy another mineral cartridge, dammit the balance is off again, ok gotta buy more bromine AGAIN. This, on the other hand, was easy: I cleaned the hot tub/drained it, refilled it, put in the salt, and then the cartridge for the saltwater system. Plugged in the system and within a few hours I was at the perfect levels. This is a tiny bit too effective for my spa, the shortest amount of time it will run is for an hour a day, that produces a bit too much free chlorine to where I need to drop in some neutralizer once or sometimes twice a week, but that's literally all the water maintenance I've had to do (besides the usual Spa Up once a week) since I got it 3 or 4 months ago. Love not smelling of bromine or chlorine when I get out, haven't gotten a rash since I switched over, the water smells like water when you hold it up to your nose, no chemical smell. I love it, wish I had done it earlier.

Crystal clear water now.
No more chemicals for our hot tub anymore. The water is always crystal clear. I enjoy the hot tub so much more now. Salt water is the way to go.

Died after 12 months!
This worked perfectly for one years, and then stopped. Opening the case revealed that the microchip was fried and had burn marks. Not sure how/why this happened as the control box was not exposed to the elements.Going back to Bromine!!
