My cat is 19lbs and this is the only cat tree I've owned large enough to accommodate him. He fits perfectly. I would definitely say this is big enough for a large cat, but not an extra large, 20lbs+ one.

No. It comes in 4 pieces. You just have to screw everything together. It only took a few minutes. Was very simple.
