No because it is activated when the derailleur cable going through it moves a roller and causing the sensor inside to cut power like the brake cutoffs, just momentarily in this case whether you shift up or down. So it doesn’t matter. But use a new cable for best results as used cables may fray easier when inserting.

Can this be used with bafang ultra motor?

I checked the motor you said, this Gear Sensor can only be used for bbs series.
