Can you plug headphones with out a computer

No. You need a computer to use it. Pretty much anything described as just a "MIDI Controller" will only send control information to music software on a computer.

Does a USB cable come with it?

Yes, but even if it didn't, it uses a standard USB type B to type A cable.

Will it work with cakewalk sonar home studio?

What is the height of the controller, including the knobs?

I just measured mine and it is just a hair over 2.5 inches from the bottom of the controller to the very top of the knobs.
