She details the spiritual warfare as well as the spiritual gifts that touched David's life and are applicable to our lives today.Each week you will have 5 daily lessons. The first lesson each week is longer than the rest as Beth Moore sets the stage. You can plan do do one session each day, two sessions a day, or wait until the weekend and complete the entire 5 sessions during your devotional time. Schedule the time and make sure you are committed to the study before you begin. It's deep and time-consuming, not for the idle or lukewarm Christian.There are optional audio/video sessions for the study, you can download them from the Lifeway website. We had more than 500 women participate in this study with us online, and of those, about 5% used the support materials. The Answers to the Viewer Guide are available from the Lifeway website, look for the Leader Kit, Supplemental Materials, and download the answers for free.My only complaint is that Lifeway has several books from Beth Moore with the same title. So it's confusing to women as they "price shop" and think they are saving money, they end up buying a "Leader's Guide" which is ineffective for personal study. Or they buy the "trade book" or "devotional book" and are frustrated by the format. It would be helpful for better distinction when several products have the same title and book cover! If this happens to you and you end up with the wrong book, pray through it, send it back, and get the member workbook for your study- you will not be disappointed!

This study of David has been so enlightening to me personally. If you take the time to do her exercises, you will be enriched through God’s word.

I absolutely LOVED this study. I had never done one before and I didn't know what to expect but it's perfectly laid out for you. You do the study five days a week and it requires anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour. I did this on my own so there were days I didn't do it and I caught up at a later date but if you are doing this with a group, definitely be prepared to designate time every day, it's worth it though. Beth takes you through the life of David, the ups and downs. You learn so much about him and God and there were times I really felt God speaking to me through this study. Aside from this I also purchased the weekly video studies and watched those before I began a new week. I HIGHLY recommend pairing the video study with the book as they are meant to go together. You can find that on the lifeway site for $5 a session. The videos are an hour long. You can't go wrong with this! I highly recommend it.

Book is not spiral bound, as described.

I am reviewing this from a man/husband's viewpoint because I believe men should feel the freedom and importance and viewing these video's with your wife or significant other as well. Every time I watch one of these DVD's I feel the time is very well spent. Beth's teaching is superb and it also helps to have quality time with my wife keeping up with what she is learning as well. At first I thought this was a definite "women's only" teaching FOR women but if you remove the comments to women and insert you in its place you receive the content from a very gifted teacher God blessed us with. I am a graduate from a Christian University and from seminary so I feel some sense that we men can glean from Beth's teachings. I've sat with my wife on a number of video's and never regretted the time spent with both my wife and the videos. My pride is now more humbled to allow God's anointed to speak to me no matter what form He shines His anointing through; a donkey spoke to man too bad religion has caused us to separate us from who can and who can't teach us.

The booklet arrived damaged and torn. It seemed used even though purchased new.

It is only a workbook, makes no sense without the book.

I have almost finished this study with my two girlfriends - all three of us are quite different in age and personality and yet we have all enjoyed Beth's study book and videos (you can buy the sets or download from lifeway.com)this is an 11 week study - five days of 'homework' and then a get-together, to watch the video. Sometimes we find that one of us can't make the get together, to watch the video but we eventually catch up. Similarly you can get behind in the homework - but we find that we can catch up on that too - without hindering our enjoyment.the main thing is - it is gripping - David's story will beat any TV soap. Even, if you are a seasoned Bible reader, Beth takes you through the chapters of 1 Samuel all the way through 2 Samuel and some how you still hope that the story will change and have a different ending. David's life goes through all the weird and wonderful, but also the sad and tragic family trials and traumas as we do in modern day times. even with David's faults God still loved him - just as he loves us. Very good book. But it is good for bible study and help group leader to lead the bible study. But it seems to me that it is too much in one chapter, not easy to finish one Chapter in a week, always need to finish one Chapter in 2 two time.

Great accompaniment to the DVD study

Great Bible Study, I have learned a lot, also grown a lot in the spirit! Knowing about what is in God's heart.

Far too Americanised and gushy for our groups tastes.Would not recommend
