Saikai Pottery Traditional Japanese Blue & white patterns plates (5 plates!) 31989 from Japan

Sturdy, yet not too heavy. Traditional simple design. I love these. Great for daily use. Fine in the dishwasher. Perfect size for my cut up fruits and midday snacks.

While they are not thick, they were not designed to be thick. I find then to be LOVELY, Useful, everyday dishes. These are from Japan & excellent quality in terms of designs & being a reasonably priced set of small dishes. I cook a lot of Japanese foods & needed this size. There are "Japanese-like" plates in cyberspace...but I find these real Japanese plates by SAIKAI to be superior to the imposter plates, in artistry. They are functional china.

I wish they were flatter. I use them for cake or pie and the slight curvature cuts down on the surface size. Each one is different and makes eating a slice of toast sweet each morning.
