recently bought "The Bad Seed Goes to the Library" for my 8-year-old, and it was an instant hit! This book is all about a little seed who learns how to enjoy reading, and it has really sparked her imagination. The story follows the Bad Seed as he goes on an adventure to the library. At first, he thinks reading isn’t for him, but as he explores the shelves, he discovers all the amazing stories waiting for him. It’s a great lesson about how even a “bad” seed can change and learn to love books! The illustrations are super colorful and fun! They really bring the story to life and make it easy for her to follow along. She loved looking at the pictures while reading, and they added so much to the story. This book has a fantastic theme about the power of reading and how it can open up new worlds. Since we read it together, she’s become even more excited about visiting the library and picking out new books. It’s inspired her to explore different genres and find stories she wouldn’t have thought to try!I think kids her age will really enjoy it. It’s funny, relatable, and encourages curiosity about reading. She found herself laughing and cheering for the Bad Seed as he discovers his love for books.Overall, I highly recommend "The Bad Seed Goes to the Library"! It’s a fun, engaging story that teaches an important lesson about reading. If you’re looking for a great gift for a young reader, this one is definitely a winner!

Super fun read!
Love this series, and was excited to see it was an "I Can Read" book. My son loves it, too. Unlike some other "I Can Reads" I feel like this one has great flow and doesn't jump around or miss linking concepts/ideas. It just makes sense and as a parent who reads a lot of books, this one is a pleasure to read with my son (no dread!!). Overall, great story and lesson!

A Perfect First Library Adventure Companion
As a reading teacher and mom of two young girls, I’m always looking for books that blend humor, heart, and real-life lessons… and The Bad Seed Goes to the Library was spot-on.We read it the night before my girls’ first ever trip to the library, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The story walks through library behavior, emotions, and problem-solving in a way that feels funny and relatable, not preachy. My girls giggled at the Bad Seed’s antics but also picked up on the bigger message about patience, kindness, and making things right. As a teacher, I loved how it models character development and even sneaks in some great library vocabulary. As a mom, I loved seeing my kids walk into the library the next day already knowing how it worked and feeling excited to explore. It’s now part of our home library and will definitely be part of my classroom collection, too.

Perfect for a young reader
My daughter just turned 7 and she loves this book! We have the original "Bad Seed" book and she loves it, so this was a nice little addition to it! Obviously it's much shorter, but that's the point - she can actually read it herself. Of course, there's a good message in it like all of the other books in this series, one that librarians will certainly appreciate!

I am purchasing this awesome book for all the little ones in my life.
I preordered The Bad Seed Goes To The Library because I love The Bad Seed (have all his books); I love Jory John & Pete Oswald; and, I love the library. I waited impatiently for it to arrive; it came today - yeah!! It is everything (and more) that I eagerly anticipated. The cover says it all - that's how I felt reading this new chapter in The Bad Seed's life. What a delightful story about the sheer exuberance of loving books - of going to the library - of being in the library - of reading! The story and the illustrations are perfectly paired. The story is awesome; the illustrations are equally awesome. After reading it once, I immediately ordered a copy for my 7 month-old grandson who lives far, far away. This will become a favorite of the many books his mother reads to him every day.My copy is going in this 72-year-old grandmother's home library - along side all my other Jory John books and countless (literally) others.
