What’s love got to do with it?

Lucy Score hits a home run in “Things we never got over”. This is a romance rolled in with family dynamics from several different families and stages. Ms. Score weaves a tale of how childhood friend’s in a small town evolve through the years. How momentous experiences change both the people, their perceptions and interactions. Ms. Score takes the ideology of a child’s expectations of what they believe their parents want and how it molds and shapes a person. That belief may not even be accurate but is the child’s truth regardless.Throughout the story is one central theme…love.True love..from a parent to a child…from a child to a parent. Love grown and love lost. Love between siblings, love between husband and wife, love between lovers, love between genders, love between friends, forbidden love but love is the consistent thread. There are extremely steamy moments. This is not a read that shys away from the physical desires of both sexes, so be prepared. Also, please note there is a tug of war with emotions between Naomi(aka Daisy/Daze) and Knox as they learn about themselves and each other. There’s also a story running behind the scenes and sometimes congruent with the scenes. There is the relationship between Knox and his brother, Nash. Sometimes, Lucien, a childhood friend enters the dynamic trio. There’s the story of Knox and Nash’s childhood with their parents and grandparents. Liza, the grandmother, most present in the current story. There’s the history of Naomi and her sister, Tina. Tine has melded her daughter, Waylay into their relationship without warning to Naomi. There’s also Naomi and Tina’s parents whom had no knowledge of their granddaughter until everything went down. There’s Waylay, a child raised in a struggle and tough world whom is wise but holds on to her innocence and surprisingly positive outlook with hope in her heart. There’s also subtle side stories of Naomi’s childhood friend, Stef. Stef is a character everyone has in their life and loves. When he comes into town there is a little spark between he and Jeremiah. This gives the reader a little nugget of hope for a spinoff story. To sum it all up, there’s the relationship Knox and Nash have with the town of Knockemout. There are a myriad of town folks that add all kinds of magic to the possibilities of spin-off stories that either Lucy Score writes or you, as the reader writes in your own mind. This was a fun, light hearted read that was uplifting and kept your heart hoping for more.I definitely recommend and hope you lose yourself in the characters. There’s a lot to chose from.

perfect mix of humor, romance, and small town drama

I loved this book. Like, stayed. up. way. too. late. kind of loved it. This is the perfect mix of humor, romance, and small town drama that keeps you totally hooked.Naomi is such a lovable hot mess. She rolls into Knockemout thinking she’s helping her twin, and instead ends up broke, stranded, and suddenly a surprise mom to a sassy preteen. The chaos is real, but she handles it like a champ, for the most part. Know is a grump, but the kind of guy you can’t help falling for. He tries so hard to stay out of Naomi’s mess but ends up falling right into it...and her.Their chemistry is great, the banter is funny, and the emotional moments hit hard .. Plus, the town is full of quirky characters who make you want to move there and grab a beer with them… even if they settle arguments with their fists. This book has heart, heat, and a whole lot of personality. Definitely one of my favorite small town romances.

The cute cover was deceiving, I wish I read this sooner!

Naomi has always attempted to make up for the disappointing choices her twin sister makes and now she finds herself in a new town trying to right wrongs once again when her sister disappears and leaves Naomi with a massive surprise. Running from her past and navigating her new responsibilities won’t be easy when everyone thinks she’s her destructive twin. Especially when her first encounter in town involves her being harassed by Knox, a handsome local, who wants her to leave as soon as possible.I’m used to dark romance and based on the cover I thought it was going to be a really frilly, soft, clean romance which isn’t usually high on my list when I’m choosing what to read next. I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was wrong. That being said it definitely wasn’t a dark romance but also wasn’t clean or give off too much hallmark movie vibes. The main love interest was so kind and loving and the main character was no push over. She held her own against the love interest, had an intriguing character profile and was someone who could have been independent but was strengthened by love rather than required it to be a significant narrator.Actual adult romance, as in the characters are both above the age of 35 and so the drama and plot are much more mature and age appropriate.Dual POV which was fabulous especially towards the end when the main conflict arises and we get to see both sides of the event and the fallout.I get frustrated when characters create their own problems by just not talking to each other about their issues which does occur in this book but I’d say it was developed really well and made sense within the context of the plot. It wasn’t the typical miscommunication trope where the characters are just lacking common sense. It was more that both characters knew there was a problem but the other needed to be able and willing to discuss it and move past it to make things work.I thought it was really well written and I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

fabulous story! loved this one!

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score-Knockemout Series Book 1-4.5/5⭐️2/3🌶️ (spice)2.5/3🦋(swoon)•My Thoughts•Welp, I was sucked in from the opening line and could not put this down. A friend has been poking at me to read this series (hi Lizz 👋🏻) and I’m so glad I did. This has so many of my favorite things: small town romance with a suspense plot line and the grumpiest, bearded MMC who reluctantly falls HARD. It’s one of my favorite combos! I loved Naomi and her growth. She’s soft with a sneaky spine of steel and such a great compliment to Knox. Her love for her people, specifically her niece was so heartwarming. I loved the found family and the small town. The banter between characters, especially our MCs was really fun and I was laughing out loud and grinning at a few scenes. My only real issue was I thought a problem near the end of the book took a little too long to resolve but other than that, I had a blast reading this and can’t wait to read more!
