This base plate is not for JL
Ordered this for my 21 JL and when I installed it three months later, found it not to fit the holes on the jeep.Needed to drill two holes instead of one and loop the safety cable around the base plate instead of going through the hole in the plate. Added another hour or so in head scratching and adapting. That info should be in the description.

Blue Ox BX1126 Base Plate, Blue Ox BX7365 Alpha 6,500lb Tow Bar and Blue Ox BX88231 Aventa LX Towing Accessory Kit for our 2011
We purchased the Blue Ox BX1126 Base Plate, Blue Ox BX7365 Alpha 6,500lb Tow Bar and Blue Ox BX88231 Aventa LX Towing Accessory Kit for our 2011 Wrangler. These guys really thought this installation through if they hadn’t attached the wire to the nuts I would have been scratching my butt for a while. My best recommendation is have access to a lift instead laying on your garage floor. The hardest part was getting the skid plate and bumper off of the Jeep. We wasted a lot of time trying to salvage the six push pins for the skid plate; I finally decided if they did not come out easily I would break them and replace with new (replaced 4 of the 6 push pins). For drilling the 4 holes for the base plate as per the instructions, installed the 2 lower bolts then I went ahead and inserted the spacer plate for a template (square and center is not in my forte). I then removed the base palate and hit all of the holes with some paint. While the paint was drying we ran the wire harness then came back and mounted the base plate. To cut the base plate I measured from the center of the outside holes in the frame for the skid plate to the inside of the base plate and cut a ¼” slot in the skid plate with a sabre saw then filed the slag from the edges. For the length of the cut you can measure the side of the base plate (@4 1/2”) then clamp something flat on the lip of the skid plate and see how far you need to cut. On mine it was just shy of where the skid plate flattens out. I also drilled a hole in the center of the skid plate to accommodate the wire harness. I still had to trim a bit more to get it to fit properly. Then connect the ground wire of the harness to the chassis, Wrap the harness with tape and run the wires through the hole and mount the skid plate and bumper. For the tail light and turn signal I decided to not use the diodes provided in the accessory kit and opted to install the additional bulbs. My thought was to keep the Jeep and Towing wiring completely separate. This proved to be a very tight fit getting 2 bulbs in such small place but it works. The only problem was it didn’t seem like the bulb holder provided was going to stay in place on rough roads and trails so I adde a screw and washer to hold them securely in place. All in all this is a really nice system. It would have cost about $1000 more at the RV shop. Take your time and think it through.

easy to fit
I bought this to fit to my jeep wrangler to tow behind our motorhome. The base plate was heavy when it was delivered, it is made of strong steel and has all the hardware you need for fitting it. It was easy to fit, my wife (helper) and I fitted it in about an hour. It fitted perfectly straight from the box, no fettling was needed and it actually took longer to remove and refit the Jeep plastic panels than to fit the base plate. The only improvement I can think of is to include a card template of where to trim the under belly pan so it fits around the new baseplate; without it it is a system of trial and error until you can get it to fit back to the Jeep properly.

Fits 2015 Jeep JKU, EAG after market bumper..
I have an aftermarket bumper with a winch on my 2015 JKU. Blue Ox makes 2 model base plates for flat towing the JKU. 1126 and 1134. The 1134 is supposed to fit with several aftermarket bumpers, but since I had a Front Hitch receiver already mounted on my JKU, with plenty of clearance between it and my bumper, I figured the 1126 should fit. Sure enough I removed the Curt from hitch receiver and mounted the 1126 with no problem. The instructions are easy to follow and would suggest watching a few of the videos on YouTube for the install. Drilling the frame was the hardest part, but if you have a good power drill, with sharp new drill bits you will have no problem. I didn't have to take the bumper off, jack the car up or remove the tires. Once you level the plate front to back, just use the lower bolts to hold it tight and clamp the rest of the bar to the jeep frame, while you drill. Start off with a pilot hole first then drill it out, taking your time. Easy install for anyone with basic hand tool knowledge.

Very easy
I ordered this off Amazon and picked the cheapest price. It was the same exact part as the more expensive one. It came in a Blue Ox box with all the required bolts and instructions. I have average mechanical skills and this was very easy. I installed this on a 2014 Wrangler Unlimited Sport S. The instructions were very easy to read and understand. Don't read ahead and you will be OK. Start at #1 and follow the steps, they have thought this out to make it as easy as possible. Take your time removing the plastic wire looms from behind the bumper and they can be reused. The base plate is very snug between the frame, but it fits perfectly. On the 2014, you do not have to cut the frame. I think the hardest part was removing the 8 bumper bolts (they were tight all the way out), especially the two on the drivers side by the fog light. Just unplug the fog light wires and it will give you enough room to reach the bolts. No extension for the top one needed. The other instruction that was a little vague was for trimming the plastic belly pan. Just cut an inch at a time and it will fit like a glove. I used a Dremel with a round cutting blade to make the cuts straight and even. It took me 2 hours and 15 minutes total. That was from getting the tools to cleaned up. You will also need a rubber mallet to make adjusting the base plate and shims easier and won't scratch the paint.

Another happy customer
The base arrived on time as scheduled and in perfect condition which was great. I really liked the way it was so easy to order on Amazon and how easy it was to track my order. It fit on my Jeep perfectly and took me less than 3 hours to install.

Perfect fit for a Jeep JK
One of the attachment tabs did not fit; this is the reason for 4 stars. I used one from a baseplate installed on my other vehicle.
