The bed itself is pretty sturdy, I am going to add a support at the inside corner where the bed meets the couch so that we can sit on couch while our daughter is in bed.

I personally don't have a tent for this bed but if you do purchase it I promise you a tent is not necessary.

Q: What is the height of the bed itself?

68.6 " from bottom to top 14.9" for the bed. Of course the mattress you put on there makes a difference with how thick it is. But it's like a normal twin size platform bed.
