Big print and spacing on the pages of the 'King Lear: Student Edition and Annotation Workbook (Student Edition Books)' allows one to take notes during the readings. It doesn't have an explanation of the text.

This is in reference to the kindle version with ASIN B07XM79XZJ.Pretty good edition. Not too many typos.It does lack a table of contents. I got around that by highlighting the act and scene headings, but that is a hacky workaround.

This edition of King Lear was printed in 1906 and when reading Shakespeare the text remains constant but the notes are of value since throughout time the stance on subject matter reflects the attitude and acceptance of the times socially. There are scholars who infer incestuous relations with King Lear while others avoid the possibility completely. The foreword introduction and most notes are from Ashley H Thorndike who was a prominent Shakespearean writer. By reading the older texts I find the attitude consistent with each era therefore the texts of Shakespeare for myself is a measuring tool for the times just by enjoying the notes and this version is no different since during the era of 1906 there was an influence of Freudian thought as there was a whole new the advent of film thereby expression was open minded. I advise anyone to explore the timeless works of Shakespeare and the old editions with penciled notes from the books owners.

There's not much to say about this and I am in no way qualified to review the Bard's work. Instead I'll just say that this transfer over to the Kindle version is perfect and it works just fine for me.
