Note: Our new formulations is a 100% polymer based material, just like the membrane manufacturer's own product. It easily beats fiberglass mesh tape for this application due to it's better flexibility and ease of use.Nova-Fiber is a thin, flexible non-woven fabric designed for use with any brand of latex based waterproofing membranes used in bathrooms and showers. The fabric is used to reinforce areas of weakness such as: Inside and outside corners of showersSeams between tile backer boards Hairline Cracks in the substrate Around Shower Niches Transitions between different materialsNote: This product is not meant to be embedded directly into thinset with a joint knife. After applying the liquid waterproofing to the substrate with a brush, you press the Nova-Fiber into it, and brush on another coat on top. Once the membrane dries, then you can apply thinset over it and attach the tiles.

This is it!
Used Nova-Fiber tape on all joints in shower wall, shower bench, curb, knee wall, and corners; along with Red Guard waterproofing. Worked great, just like Sal Diblasi of Elite tile, North Shore Boston, demonstrated on You Tube. Thanks Sal!!! Photos are before Red Guard was applied to rest of wall/floor/bench field area. 75' roll of Nova-Fiber was not quite enough for this project. Had to order a second roll to finish. As a DIYer for several years, so delighted that something worked exactly as it should. Easy to use, highly recommend for those who want the job done right.

Great alternative to Laticrete
Have used this membrane as well as using Laticrete. I found no difference from my perspective. It goes on easily, no curling, no edge problems, no problem with uneven surfaces or getting the material to lay flat. A breeze to work with.FYI: Applied to cement board using Mapei AquaDefense waterproofing membrane.

works really well with redgard
In some ways i wish the weave was a bit more open so it could wrap around odd shapes better but but a normal standard shower it works great. I pre-ironed my inside and outside corners i made as well as long corners, this makes putting things down much easier (don't use iron directly , iron with a shirt, towel over the cloth as you'll met it). I did a test with 1 coat of redgard on durock and this fabric with a pool of water and it sat there for days. on one roll the start of the roll had a curled edge (about 8 inches), good idea to check yours, but everything else worked fantastic and i'd dare you to be able to separate two pieces with redgard between them.Pretty sure the only reason schluter is popular is contractors can get in and out in a day, redgard with this stuff is really impressive, grab some and do a few mock up tests and you'll be convinced.

Good value
Bought product to aid in waterproofing a shower, the niche in particular. Embedded it with a liquid waterproofing membrane. Nova-Fiber seems comparable to other far more expensive products. To my knowledge Nova- Fiber doesn’t tout itself as a waterproofing material; I just used it based on anecdotal evidence. Haven’t finished building shower, so as yet, I can’t verify. However, the fabric was very easy to cut and fashion into corner and side shapes; it easily absorbed the liquid, slicked down to cement board and didn’t wrinkle or bubble, so I’m happy.

Can’t wait to use it again.
I used this product to reinforce a shower with red gard. It layed flat on flat surfaces and also conformed to both inside and outside corners. It’s thin enough that it doesn’t stick out too far to make tile placement a problem. After reading some reviews I was worried about having issues, but I had none. Perfect product for my project.

Absolutely terrible for use with liquid silicone sealer!
I was expecting a product made of stiffer fibers. This is a very stretchy fabric. I used it with a roll on silicone roof coating that costs about $300.00 per 5 gallon bucket. As it dried, this stuff rippled, buckled, blistered and wrinkled. I had to rip over 1/4 of it of and buy more FIBERGLASS cloth seam tape to repair my new roof.

Not worth the savings!!
Definitely not worth the few $s vs the Laticrete tape. The tape is curling at the edges, fibers were coming loose as I pushed the tape into the regard, etc.Its thinner and less flexible than the better tape and who knows about its technical performance?? It would sure be a shame to have a leak because I wanted to save a few bucks on tape.

Easy to work with
The thickness of this fabric allows the necessary ply overlap buildup0 to be minimal. The fabric seems to be very strong but pliable, not stiff, making wrapping corners easy. I used this product after running out of another well known similar product with mapei aqua defense. The Nova Fiber was easier to apply, and absorbed the liquid membrane product better than the first product used. I will definitely use this on my next, larger, shower project.

Waterproofing complete.
Easy to work with and not too thick, so it doesn't leave much of a ridge.I used this with Aqua Defense on Denshield and I am pleased with the results.
