Lovely fragrance, nicely presented, slow burning
Firstly the packaging: The box is lovely, and the candle is in a rather nice black jar which flares slightly to the top. There is really no need for the plastic bag inside the box, but I guess it'd add to the shelf-life of the fragrance if sat for a long time? The fragrance is nice, lemon and grassy notes dominate; the hint of pepperiness is more prevalent before lighting. Couldn't really distinguish jasmine. However, once lit, the aroma spreads through the room nicely, not too strong, so you can leave it to burn for a good time which prevents tunnelling. The candle lasted well too, as you'd hope for an expensive one. Ideal gift or luxury treat.

Posh Wick
We love a scented candle and they can differ in price from the cheap, to the very expensive. This 'House of Otium Soy Candle' is on the upper level, but I can certainly find others that are a lot more expensive. This is a good giftable candle as it has an expensive look to it. The black box that it comes in and candle holder are very chic and pricy looking. The scent is enigmatic, grassy, lemons and fields. It is not an overpowering scent, but something that drifts into the room and lingers. The candle is a slow burner and will last several sessions. The scent is such that you can just have it on for twenty minutes or so and blow it out as you will have the smell by then. There are bolder and funnier candles on the market, but this 'Otium' ones has a nice role as a classy candle that you can gift to a friend.

Well presented.
I have received this candle to review on behalf of Amazon. It arrived promptly and well packaged. This is the 2nd house of otium candle I have reviewed recently. Like the first, it comes really well presented and looks stunning in its gift box and then it jar itself. The fragrance isn't one I have had before, but was pleasant enough. The problem I have found yet again, is that once lit, the fragrance isn't particularly strong. Of course you don't want a smell that will overpower everything else, but you do want it to spread around the room. Also for its price, its really pretty but you pay for the scene primarily, which is lacking in my opinion.

Good quality
Really good quality, the scent is very strong but doesn't disturb when burning out. It fills big room with nice atmosphere, My husband straight away liked it. It burns very slowly and should last quite a time. Rally nice candle

good but expensive
Really good candle. Nice presentation which would make for a decent gift. The scent is really nice. The candle will last longer than normal candles as it's a soy candle. Bit on the expensive side but worht it

Strong but relaxing fragrance of vetiver grass
I use a lot of fragrance candles, ranging from those that are cheap as chips to well known premium brands. This is the first House of Otium candle that I have had the pleasure of using. The candle is well packaged, in fact, I have reduce what would have been a 5-star review to 4-stars as I think it has too much plastic packaging. However, on taking the candle out, you are immediately hit with the smell of vetiver, which is a grass that grows in India and is often used in perfumes and aromatherapy. It is said to be good for nerves and insomnia as it is a very relaxing smell. Whilst I am sceptical of those claims, the fragrance is pleasing, with the smell of fresh grass with a citrus overtone. The candle only needed to be lit for a few seconds, and our large living room (approximately 3 metres by 8 metres) would be filled the scent. We have used it almost daily for a month, and there is still about a quarter left, so it does burn quite slowly, and therefore, even though it is priced at £22 (at the time of this review), I would say it is good value for money.

Posh Presentation.
The smart black box containing the candle holder and candle proclaims, 'Vacate et videte', which roughly translates to, 'Now stand and see this great thing.' This is repeated on each side of the box. An introduction like that takes some living up to. The box is sturdy with gold printing and looks a bit swank. The black ceramic candle jar is wrapped in a cellophane bag for protection, stands 8cm tall and has a 7cm diameter. The company name and motto is gold-printed on the jar and I don't like this. It makes the candle jar look like a corporate gift picked up free somewhere. I can see why the box is printed but this ramming home on the candle jar cheapens the product. And cheap it isn't.The candle is plain white wax, lights easily and burns evenly once the wick is adjusted. The scent, vetiver, smells a bit like face powder: not unpleasant but perhaps pedestrian. The aroma lingers.
