chloramine effective
as world class as NYC tap water is, the upstate watershed adds chloramine that noticeably impact flavor, particularly if you use tap to brew tea at home - because unlike chlorine, chloramine will not boil out of the water. so when our industry standard 3 stage under counter filter needed a fresh set of filters and O-rings, i tried this A.L. brand chloramine (red cap left) and particulate (no cap right) combined with a typical carbon block for metals and vocs (white cap center). after flushing the system for a while, then brewing a fresh batch of Nilgiris black leaf - we all agreed the flavor had significantly improved. i breed freshwater shrimp and host a nano fish tank, and use this filtered water to top off my tank without the need of using chloramine nullifying treatments. pro tip - lower the flow rate pressure on your filter system to maximize the effectiveness of chloramine removal.

Chlorine not Removed
I put this carbon block in my RODI unit and used for about 2 months before my water started testing positive for chlorine. In the past I've been able to use individual blocks for almost a year. I don't know if I got a dud or not but I don't make that much RODI and was very disappointed with the longevity of the carbon block. I even pulled the filter housing off to make sure I had a good seal; I assumed it was user error. Not so, turns out it's just a poor quality carbon.Edit: I reached out to Aquaticlife and they were very helpful. They are sending a replacement and once I get it an use it for a while I'll revisit this review. As it stands, I bumped it from a 1 star to a 3 star due to great customer service. If the replacement block functions as expected, there will be yet another edit.

Cracked during shipping
Discovered a crack in the carbon unit after I installed it, carbo leaked out and ruined my pump and the entire batch of water had to be wasted.
