Well Done!
The production of ROME was well done giving a somewhat less idealistic view of ancient Rome than I had been used to seeing. But it was raw, gutsy and entertaining and well worth the few dollars I spent to add it to my collection.

HBO Scores Another Victory With ROME: The Complete Series
This is another boxed set that I delayed in purchasing until recently. I had heard about this HBO original program, but I was somewhat hesitant to purchase it. Well, I finally stopped sitting on the fence. The ensemble cast is phenomenal. The production and set design, as well as costumes are first rate. Yes, there is enough blood & gore, as well as nudity to satisfy most viewers...if that is what you want or need. I found the dialogue and numerous plot twists to rise above all other elements of the two seasons this show was on HBO. I do not know if the creators of this series intended the program to only run two seasons. That said, I would have welcomed more. Again, the ensemble cast play their parts with vigor. Worth adding this DVD to your collection.

Finally, Good Blu-Ray Packaging!
Highly recommend for collectors. I originally bought the DVDs when they were separate seasons, and though the packaging was gorgeous it was flimsy as hell, falling apart after one freight move and typical wear/tear.This repackaging of both seasons presents the Blu-Ray discs in a book format, held in place by pressure against a membrane that does not appear to exhale a film onto the discs like standard Blu-Ray blue plastic garbage packaging. This is what every company needs to do, as the discs are better protected during shipping and, I predict, will fare better over years of storage in a climate-consistent environment. This is how it should be. The show is amazing too, but my assumption is that people are wondering if it's worth buying on Blu-Ray after having already seen it. The answer is, obviously, yes. Polly Walker in 1080p is superior to Polly Walker in 720p. This will always be a true statement.

Brilliant
The disk set was complete and played without any technical problems. The series is absolutely brilliant, starting with the animated graffiti in the introduction. Portraying Roman patricians as English aristocrats also works beautifully, adding wit, irony and a drole twist that's irresistible. The script and cast are super. It's gritty, cerebral, and witty, but also, poignant and tragic, as it by all accounts accurately portrays Roman history of the period. Kudos to the musical score. The production values are superb.

A show before it's time
Fantastic fantastic fantastic!!!! Not only that but fairy historically accurate too minus the scripted drama. This show could have continued through the whole history of Rome and been a huge success just on factual Roman drama. Instead it feels like this show went unnoticed. During that time SciFi was popular. That aside super happy to have a copy so i can enjoy over and over again. Also love the extra "All Roads Lead to Rome" showing you little facts during the show about what, why and how the Romans lived, believed and fought.

Addendum: it is a great historically based fictionalized movie.
It is a great movie with exceptionally good visual reproductions. I only object the continuous litany of the same swear words, revother than that it is a great dvd uhd 4k production. Swear words only reveal the ignorance of the writer. Obviously, education and knowledge were only available to the upper class so that kind of language was used by the lower class on the Roman Empire: however, why use it in a reproduction! Surely, there are other ways to express disappointment. Even a lesser use of those swear words would be more acceptable!!

Very accurate battle scenes, excellent writing, and acting.
Incredible haunting Roman interiors of lavish Patrician homes. Excellent reconstruction of Roman street life, realistic martial arts. The writing is excellent, with a clever sense of humour accompanied by superlative acting.
