Do these actually have an obnoxious logos plate on the outside? A designer planter box! Sheesh.

They actually do. The logo is on one side only and we were able to turn ours where the logo was not visible. Still, for the price it is a nice looking and well built planter and they arrived in perfect condition.

Is this safe to grow vegetable plants in?

I hope so, because thats what I’m doing! Kale and herbs growing great, its galvanized so the colour is not a paint that can chip off or anything.

The description says the planter is insulated with styrofoam. Is the styrofoam inside the box supposed to be the insulation?

Yes, the foam lines the inside of the planter.
