I absolutely loved this thing for about 6 months, then the wire broke. I went to the package to look for the extra wires and remembered that for some strange reason there were none. Others seem to have received extra wires.EDIT: I found the box for the unit and there were additional wires, which installed fairly easily. Changed to 5 stars.

I am a cheeseaholic and get tired of having to slice it by hand and never getting the same thickness. This allows me to slice quickly and easily. The wire is actually very strong and they send 10 replacements.

so much easier to cut cheese evenly. the wire broke after about 6 months or so but it comes with a bunch o replacements, so make sure you keep those - you'll probably need them. not super easy to put the replacement one on, but i got it attached.

Ok, now that I've used this for a bit I have figured it out and the issue WAS mostly user error.Let the cheese warm to about room temp, this helps dramatically! The wire is no longer being stretched since it's easier to slice. Also I used pressure from my finger to help ensure more even slices, so there's a tip for you.Ultimately for the price this is probably about as good as it gets. If you want deli like sliced cheese maybe opt for a deli slicer.Original 2 star review:I mean it DID cut but after doing one block of store brand cheddar the wire was stretched. The very first cut was a warning of what was to come, every piece was uneven as the wire stretched more and more.Will use a few more times to ensure it isn't user error somehow but most likely will be returning as a knife seems to work just as well to cut uneven, too-thick slices.

It's okay but the wire bends when cutting cheese so I guess it's cheaply made.you might not want to waste your money if this concerns you

I originally gave this product a five star review. I was extremely happy with it until I had to replace a broken wire. I spent 30 minutes trying to replace it. My adult son also tried to replace a wire and after trying for another 30 minutes or so and going through four wires wires he also gave up. My wife threw the item in the trash after watching us struggle. We both read the directions closely. I am sorry to give this such a bad review…but I had no other choice……a waste of time and money. If they had had a zero star review and would have given them one.

This slicer is just what the cheif ordered. Love this slicer, works perfectly
