Arrrgh, Great Pirate Gift
Sent to a friend. For International Talk Like a Pirate Day and he was thrilled. Even though it was cardboard, the 3D puzzle was a treat. Instructions were only pictures, but Pirates can’t read so it wasn’t a show stopper. After a few hours the ship was ready to display and looks great. Little issues: Flag is not anatomically correct, shown flying against the wing as opposite direction. But this was smalll stuff, its a Great Pirate gift!

My most rewarding puzzle experience
What a great puzzle/model. Well designed, all the pieces are printed double sided. Requires no glue. However, not for kids. Was a little tedious to build in some places. BUT, you can't beat it for the price. Really well done product. I'm very pleased.I'm starting a new Lego League robotics team in a few days. We will be representing our elementary school, South Knoxville Elementary. Our team name is "South Knoxville Ultimate Lego League". Look at the first letters of our name: SKULL. So, we are going to be Pirates! What fun! This ship will be part of our team's table presentation during competition day.

I liked it and finished in a couple hours
First, the colors and detail are nice. It's a heavy paper model with a gloss. Second, yes, the instructions are a little bit lacking...you do have to just see where pieces are to be placed in the whole schematic and then figure out a suitable arrangement in at least two places. I wish I had crazy glue to just place a dab here or there. I had trouble with angled sail stays from a foreward mast to a sail behind and yes, the piece that would have balanced or locked the stays kept falling out because they are added/assembled quite early and the stays are added last. The angled stay high in the middle seemed too long, but by the time it was on the shelf I had no problem. Also, the picture on the box secures the top of the sails different than the instructions...I went with the picture, because it fell apart less frequently. Unfortunately, once I built the boat around the area that houses the battery box I didn't see any easy way to get the battery box out. I put in two quality Duracells and the light kit worked. Then assembled the boat and never could apply enough pressure to turn the switch to on; then I couldn't get the boat a part to remove the Duracells...bummer...now it's on a shelf well over 7 feet high and will never be turned on...double bummer. Decide if or how you will or will not use the lights before you assemble the boat completely around the battery box. When I purchase and complete this model again, I will not include the light kit and battery box. The boat and stand were quite stable once assembled. I wish I had glue for the sails and stays. I wish the lettering on the stand was larger, I was asked to identify the year of the original ship as labeled on this stand...I had to go up the ladder again. Overall, very nice if you are a little experienced in assembling any model kits or puzzles.

Super fun to put together
Bought this (twice, actually) to include as a prop for a D&D campaign, and it did not disappoint.I had WAY more fun putting it together than I expected - though some of it was challenging (some instructions a bit difficult to interpret). The layout of the pieces seemed somewhat random at times (usually a given section was clustered together, but fairly often you had to go hunting through stacks of cardboard to find the right one).It was fairly sturdy once assembled, and made for a great pirate ship for our intrepid adventurers.

Time consuming!
This boat is difficult to put together and very time consuming. Difficult in that you have to punch out the holes in each “window” and sail, and the inserts to put the pieces into are not easily punctured. The instructions do not have step by step on them. Once completed, we had an issue with the light switch falling down & cannot get it back into place without taking it all apart and starting over. Would not recommend for the finished product, it is not worth the effort.
