The taste was not good at first. Add some extra water and ice and it’s okay. I am afraid to add any of the suggested flavor enhancers—I don’t want to negate the good things this formula is doing. I feel better than I have felt in years, and I still have 7 days left. No craving for real food, so I know I will make the next 7. The pandemic—no restaurants and no social events—make it easy to avoid temptation. I know I am not cured, but I won’t be afraid to start an elemental diet again when SIBO symptoms return.

For sure, contact your gastro-enterologist for advice in using this product.My Personal ExperienceThis product is a great way to get nutrients & calories with minimal effort from the digestive system (which is particularly important for those with GI disease - like Ulcerative Colitis or Crones). However, unless you have an extreme disease state, be sure to still incorporate some food into your diet. The GI tract is closely linked to your immune system, and does require to be active at least at a minimal level. You'll want to avoid GI atrophy from limited use, as it'll become increasingly harder to onboard back to food in the future.Helpful Side notes:(1) Given the last sentence above, I still get 20% of my calories from food, although it's a carefully selected small list given my condition.(2) I mix this non-flavored mix with water, and am fine with the taste. However, I have heard that some can't live without the flavor packets (ordered separately). Personally, the flavor packets have ingredients that I believe would be detrimental to the aggravated GI, but others may experience different results. As an example, the flavor packets contain citric acid, which is also present in Vitamin Water (a drink that my GI can't seem to tolerate at this time).(3) My system can't personally handle the bubbles created when shaking up the mix with the water, so, I skim the bubbles on top with a spoon before consuming.

First of all I have NOT tried this so I'm rating it the same as the average. I am only posting to clarify the problem of adding flavors to this. The whole idea of an elemental diet is to avoid ANYTHING that may cause further problems. So if your gut has been partially removed you are missing cells that create chemicals that help remove toxins created by the digestion of regular food. If you have severe food intolerances numerous such abilities may be dysfunctional. So if you add cinnamon as one suggested your body may create excess histamine which can cause chaos in ANY part of the body, including major organs and the brain. You may not even realize that it's the reason why you developed schizophrenia or Parkinson's, both of which may be connected to such a defect....and that's just one example of numerous things that cinnamon can cause...and a very small amount of cinnamon is very potent! Do what you will, but there is a reason why flavorings are left out of food for damaged guts. Such people are prone to food intolerances of many kinds. Please be careful...these things can be very very bad.

I have gut problems. I read that you can drink only this for 2 WEEKS and often that helps your body heal without having to do other diets and supplements for 1-2 YEARS. The 2 week time-frame was very appealing and I was so excited to do it! HOWEVER, it was the most disgusting thing I've ever had...and I have a pretty high tolerance for gross things. I barely managed to drink one packet. I cringe at the thought of trying it again! There is just no way I could do it! I'm sooo disappointed! (EDIT: My old review is still showing up for some people which states I still have some packets that I'm willing to mail as samples. HOWEVER, I no longer have any extra packets. Sorry!)

A solid meal replacement. Works especially well when you're ill and the gastrointestinal system may not be working well. Highly absorbable. Pricey but worth it, especially if you're ill. Probably the best way to guarantee adequate nutrition of the COMPLETE spectrum of nutritional requirements at least short term

Like other users, I found this product intolerable to drink on its own. But right now I’m so ill am willing to find a way. I substituted V-8 juice for water, mixed well and refrigerated for an hour. Only then did I find it palatable. Problem is since it is meal replacement and not supplement, it kills my appetite for the rest of the. So I drink half in morning with breakfast and the other half with supper. Not sure how much good it is doing yet but I do feel a bit better.

This product might be tolerated via TPN or tube feed, but it was horrible tasting. Three of us attempted to drink it and it was nasty.
