Q: How does gel vers. compare to an Aircast that uses an air bladder? I want something that doesn't bottom out on hard shell or create a pressure point.

This may not be what you need then. This has gel cushions on the sides for stabilizing and an elastic strap connecting the pieces that runs under your arch. You wrap 2 straps around to hold it on. The cushions remain stable without flattening.

Q: I am healing from an ankle fusion, i need to be able to move my ankle freely forward and backward, will this allow me unrestricted forward movement?

Dear customer: Our product mainly aims to prevent and limit the ankle valgus and varus. It will not affect forward and backward movement of your ankles. With this ankle brace, you can move freely. We suggest to wear the product with shoes to get the best useing effect to make sure your ankle joints will be more stable and comfortable. Q: What kind of shoes do you recommend to comfortably wear this brace? Wearing without shoes feels really good but it is not the same on shoes.

It’s best to have a shoe where the upper sits below the outside ankle bone. I wear a different brace with my tactical / biker boots because this one doesn’t work well with taller footwear. Sneakers, tennis shoes, and open sandals with a wide ankle strap (my fave) are good choices. I usually wear a crew-length sock underneath it.
