Beautiful Lamp for Older Children and Adults
This would be a *great* lamp for an older child (or adult)--especially someone who loves Star Trek as it has the feel of the Enterprise. Aesthetics aside, it's a very useful desk lamp. Has nice lighting and you can actually dim it. It's large but the footprint isn't absurd. We bought it for our 2 year old daughter, but ended up gifting it to my mother (who wanted a better desk lamp and loved the way this one looked). The reason why we didn't feel comfortable giving it to our daughter because the part where the bulb is has no cover and the bulb (which is a fluorescent spiral) looks like too much of a temptation to grab at. We ended up buying the fox lamp (made by this same company) for her instead.

This rocket lamp rocks!
Perfect accessory to my son's "outer-space" themed room. You can adjust the brightness, but the dimmest setting is still kind of bright. Love the lamp, just wish that it had the capacity to be a bit dimmer.
