Great bed, we love it!
Thoroughly pleased! My baby boy 5, loves his new big boy bed. The bed came in two boxes, one long one around 150lbs and a box for the desk, around 30lbs. I purchased the Clay.I have been in search of a suitable bed for my child for a few months and I choose this bed for a few reasons1.Solid wood, most of the contenders were not solid and had particle board, I considered the DONCO Kids Low Study Loft Bed, Dark Cappuccino for reference2.Weight limit, this has a 400 lb weight limit that he can grow into and I don’t have to worry about it breaking down3.No Proposition 65 Warning4.Neutral color, he has a dark wood chest of drawers and this fit in with existing decor5.Desk & storage included as he has a small roomIt took two days for install, started on Sunday afternoon at 30pm, finished at 9pm, had whole bed installed except for desk. I took wine breaks lol. Desk installed next day and took 20 minutes. Only needed help to connect side rails, everything else I was able to do on my own because I am a beast at all things. All hardware/wood was accounted for before install and that took some time as well. Instructions (44pages) are visual only and very simple to understand. I only encountered two issues. Item 1A bookcase, I had to swap pieces 19&20 as they were backwards. And I was not able to add one of the corner screws for the desk, hole mismatch possibly, did not want to force it and damage anything, left it be. Pretty sturdy. Due to it being in a temporary location until we move, I did not secure all of the wood slats on the bed frame, just the middle and more than secure. I also skipped the corner bracket install for the desk, it’s pretty solid and can do without. I opted for a 8inch mattress but it think you could probably get away with a 10inch. Also there was a light order from the wood/paint, it has dissipated in the past 24hours. No real damage to the wood, just a nick on one of the shelves and one side of the desk was slightly discolored.Overall worth the $540, going to put a sheet over front so he can still have a little secret cave to play but this is a great buy. I would suggest this bed. I was pretty hesitant to buy as it had not reviews but here you go.

Holds the weight!
This is a very nice loft bed. It was easy to assemble but needs two people. The wood is good and have no concerns of it falling apart or collapsing. I was looking for something that would hold an adult and child. This was it with a 400 lb limit. It eases my mind that it won’t come crashing down if we climbed up with our kid. It does shake a little when you move while on it but is expected with a loft bed as it’s not anchored to the wall nor does it need to be. The shelves are nice and provides added storage. You can put the shelves and ladder on either side but you have to decide that when you’re building it. We have the ladder on the left and the shelves on the right. You can put the ladder and shelves on the same side if you wanted it that way. We initially bought a twin mattress that was too thick. We ended up returning and getting an 8” mattress. I would not recommend anything more than 8”. Overall, we are happy with the purchase.

*Long review*
This is a lengthy review so please bare with me. This one is wood, and seems sturdier than a metal one would be. There are wooden slates that are connected by a strap thing. After all the slates are pulled into place they are then screwed down on the ends of the slats, there is also a metal rod that runs from one end to the other for extra support. The bed is sturdy for a bed being sold online. Of course the bed will move around and creak if you shake it hard enough that's with anything. Is it to the point I'm concerned that it will fall apart? No not at all. Now the bed does state will hold 400 lbs... maybe, but a teeny tiny ladder will NOT! Common sense tells anyone that. Will the ladder hold kids absolutely, will it hold a 200+ person...nah wouldn't trust that. If you want build a beefy ladder and you should be fine. Theres plenty of room underneath the bed, the desk is a good size and the shelves hold quite a bit. There was a bump or two on the bed but that's from the shipping, not the manufacturer. They were not noticeable, and to me not a deal breaker. I would recommend this to anyone with kids who's rooms are a bit small.

Wobbles a lot...
My 7 year old wanted a loft bed so badly that I bought this after some research. The reason I bought this one was...1. Guardrail of the bed is 14” (2-3 inch higher than other products).2. Right height: it’s kind of middle of tall loft and low loft, which feels safer but gives under the bed a high enough space for play area.3. BookshelvesOn delivery, I found 3 pieces of parts got broken, but amazon replaced it right away. It’s not difficult to assemble with two adults. It looks nice. However, even when my 50 lb baby goes up and moves slightly the entire bed WOBBLES. It is not that we didn’t tighten screws...it’s structural/material issue. Now I have to look for a way to bolt it to the wall. If I knew this I wouldn’t have purchased it.

The best weight limit out there - Reinforce the 2 middle ladder steps
This had to be the only loft bed with a 400lb weight limit. Obviously my kids are nowhere near that but you add a mattress, two kids up there, or them just flopping around, having that weight limit is really reassuring. There were 2 things I wanted to point out. They don't do the best job of labeling the bolts. It took us a long time to be sure we were using the right ones. The second thing is the ladder. The top and bottom step have dowels and bolts keeping them in place. The center two steps only use dowels. Personally, I thought they really needed to be reinforced. I can't imagine them holding up. We bought some L-brackets to reinforce them. At this price point, I was MORE than happy to buy them. Someone mentioned the beds were wobbly. We tightened the bolts we could see a week after they started using them and check every now and then. With our beds, tightening fixed any wobbling. We bought the model with the bookshelf, so that may be adding to the stability.
