Powerboating: Your First Book for Your First Boat Hardcover – January 3, 2017

There is no better book out there that is as entertaining and informative for a novice...it took the scare factor out and replaced it with confidence and eagerness to become a boater for life!!! Thank you Captain Ken!

This is a good rainy day read. Not a replacement for boating manual by USCG or auxiliary.

The author used way too many words. The book was informative to a small degree. I wouldn’t recommend this book to beginner boaters. It seems more like the author was more interested in flexing his intellectual word muscles then explaining simple terms in the beginning of the book like port and starboard.

Remember when you had to write a 10 page essay in elementary school? You used every trick in the book to fill up those pages with only the bare minimum of factual content? That is this book. The actual information in this book could be distilled down into a note card, but instead we are treated to dozens and dozens of pages of prose where a simple sentence would have sufficed. If you're a new boater and are looking for information that will keep you safe and your boat in good repair, look elsewhere. If you've got a long trip and enjoy a book that waxes philosophic and occasionally lands on useful information, look no further. Check out BoatUS or any of the other great reference videos on youtube instead.

This book is marketed as an intro for new boaters. It's not. What it really provides is the author's musings on boating. WAY to many ramblings and personal anecdotes and precious little valuable information for a newcomer to boating. This book is to boating as what Johnathan Livingston Seagull is to pilots. If you want to be entertained it's fine. If your goal is to acquire vital information then look elsewhere.

A few minor mistakes, a lot of rambling, little real information.

I spent my life around boats. It still amazes me that anyone can buy a big boat and sail it without a license or experience. If you are new to boating, at least read this book. You don't know what you don't know.

Strongly wouldnt recommend as it was just very old clips of basic tips ...If I could send back I would as total waste of money
