Greatest Hits: The Spring Years, 1970-1977

I have been looking for a complete collection from Joe Simon. While I enjoy this CD, I was disappointed that it did not contain the song I was looking or-Misty Blue. I love Joe Simon’s version of this song - no disrespect to Dorothy Moore.

Purchased this CD because I love this artist. The clarity of voice, the instruments, the music, absolutely "LOVE" it. The price was reasonable, the product arrived on time, I am very pleased with the purchase. It seems only Amazon specializes with the 'older artists', and the availability of finding thier product online. Very satisfied with my purchase, and I highly recommend it to others. Who can sing 'The Chokin' Kind' better than Joe Simon.

THE SPRING YEARS is an almost-perfect Joe Simon compilation documenting his most successful years with the Polydor-distributed Spring Records. The sound is great and the liner notes are pretty detailed. However, Simon's last top 20 r&b hit is missing (1978's "Love Vibration") while "You Don't Have To Play No Games" is here although it stalled at #62 on the r&b charts. Had "Games" been replaced by "Vibration", this compilation would have included all of Simon's top-20 r&b hits with Spring.

Joe Simon is remembered in the UK for just one memorable hit, Step by Step. However, in the US he had a fair few pop hits and numerous R and B best sellers. He made many excellent records and is well worth exploring as a major US artist who deserved to do better here in Britain.
