I had 22" of space between my garage door and the ceiling. I wasn't sure if I could get my 12' Eddyline Skylark kayak into the space. It fit with about 4" to spare! Bonus - I can now lower it directly onto my car. Brackets need to be mounted to a joist in your ceiling. There are two sets of holes in the brackets to fit joists that run front to back, or left to right. This kayak is 41 lbs and it is easy to lift with this kit. You can pull the ropes together to lift it, or pull one at a time to raise the front or back as needed.

very pleased with the product, was concerned that the canoe I was hanging would be too heavy to lift with the system, but it turned out to be reasonable. Bought a second for my other canoe.

Overall these are good hoists. If you are handy with a drill, installation should be relatively easy. A couple of improvements that I would happily pay a bit more for are, pulleys with actual bearings and a higher quality rope. Perhaps the manufacturer would also consider a kit with a ratcheting hand crank for raising and lowering. Its a bit heavy for my wife to operate and I will be adding a hand crank myself for.

It's only been up now for about an hour or so, but the project wasn't too hard. The directions were pretty easy if you take your time with them I can see how some people may get confused by the rope and pully system but again, I just went slow step by step and didn't need to redo anything or made a mistake. my kayak is now stored safely indoors and out of the way. I'd say it was about 1.5 hr job and I'd say I have minor home improvement/ building skills/ experience.

I am storing a 12 foot kayak in a cramped garage. The pulley hoist works well ion my application.

We have a beautiful canoe that only weighs 35 pounds but she's 16 feet long. Finding a secure and safe place to store her in a garage was tricky. This system worked great! Installed fairly easily once we added support beams where we needed them and now she's tucked right up against the ceiling. This does require some muscle to raise and lower, especially if the item would be heavier

Everything about this product was a good experience. The packaging was compact and well organized with everything appropriately protected. Even the rope was carefully coiled. The instructions were detailed and very instructive and easy to follow. The quality of the product seems very good for the price point and all pieces were in perfect condition when they arrived. After installation, I was able to hoist my 41lb kayak by myself with ease and the braking mechanism works perfectly. I was considering a two pulley system but am glad I spent the little bit extra to get this 3 pulley setup. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it for others.

It can’t lift a kayak without another person lifting the kayak

Like most other reviewers here have said already, this is a awesome product that costs a bit more but is well worth it. Very well made, easy to install and works great. The main difference from the Teal Triangle compared to other lifts is the third pulley, which also acts a brake to hold the weight of whatever your lifting. The wall cleat does not hold the weight of the kayak, it's more of a backup if something ever went wrong with the third pulley brake.

I have 14’ ceilings, and this lift works perfectly for lifting the kayaks to the ceiling, they give you plenty of rope to do the job, I only wished they were available in a 2 pack, I had to purchase 2 separately, I purchased them mainly because of the third pulley that keeps the rope close to the wall, they are a bit expensive but they are well made and worth the extra money.

Works very well. Installed as easy as the video shows.I liked it so much I ordered another one for my cargo box.
