Smells like a tire-fire. Which is a shame because it looks really good.
My rug looks almost exactly like the photo, colors are blue and turquoise shades, with snippets of reds, browns, and blacks thrown in for variety. It's very pretty and matches the decor just I expected it to.However, IT SMELLS SO BAD, so very very bad, it's currently outside, hanging over a fence to air out for a few days. (See update, below.)When I unwrapped the rug, I was met with a nasty chemical smell, so I put it right in the washing machine. Ran it with my usual Arm & Hammer detergent, and a handful of washing soda, which normally removes odors. But after one cycle, the smell was dramatically stronger! It reeks like someone tried to extinguish a tire fire by hosing it down with motor-oil, and then while that was smoldering, they dumped some old electronics into the mess, then somehow wove it all into a rug. I'm not usually at a loss for words, but the above is really inadequate to describe the staggering stench that comes off this thing.I washed it three times before giving up and throwing it outside to get some air, and the *next* thing I ran through the washing machine is now unusably stinky. I'm sure it'll recover after running a few more loads of stuff I don't care about, but in the meantime I'm wasting tons of energy and water trying to clean up from this wretched rug.I want to like this rug. It's just the right size, just the right color, and seems really well made. Except for the cursed spirits of chemical damnation apparently woven into its fibers. If I can get those exorcised, I'll come back and update the review and let you know what it took!UPDATE TWO MONTHS LATER: I can't get rid of the smell. I've washed this thing a dozen times in everything from washing soda, to vinegar, to special deodorizing stuff I found at the store. I left it outside for a whole MONTH to air out, and no matter what I do, the moment I bring it inside, the room stinks of plastics. Had a friend over and the first words inside the door were "damn dude, did you short out some electronics?"I can't keep this thing in the house, and it's too late to return it, so I think I'm gonna relegate it to being a workbench mat in the garage. Oh well.UPDATE A YEAR AND A HALF LATER: It's fine as a workbench mat. It was down to only stinking a little, but then I spilled my drink on it while I was working, so I laundered it again, and it somehow rejuvenated the smell again.

Terrible, nauseating ODOR and it's not a consistent size from one end to the other.
This rug smells like a bag of 100 year old rags, musty and gross. Had to toss it out on the patio; it was smelling up the whole house! Also the first 62 inches are 5/8" wider than the remaining. It's totally wonky and apparent while down on the floor. It looks like two different size rugs got hooked together. Growing SO tired of the junk that I receive on Amazon. UPDATE: This rug has been hanging in the covered patio for three weeks and it STILL REEKS beyond belief. It's truly disgusting. UPDATE: Was never able to use. Landed in the trash. Horrible ODOR never subsided.

Reeks of mold!
This was a decent quality rug, mostly grey with a hint of other color here and there. The deal breaker for me though was the fact that it smelled like a moldy basement immediately out of the package. This wasn't a subtle smell either; the minute I opened the package, the entire room filled with the odor. Unrolling the rug made it even worse. I think they were stored in a damp, stinky warehouse, and the smell (and possibly the mold) has seeped into the rugs. If they were machine washable, I wouldn't mind so much, but since they aren't, there isn't really a good way to get rid of the stink. I think if they were hung up outside for several days, the smell might start to go away, but since I live in an apartment complex and don't have a yard, this wasn't possible for me. It's a shame, because I liked the product, just not the smell of mildew in it. I'm returning it for that reason.

Had a smell at first but great rug.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Looks pretty and the quality is all right, but it smells like an old garage. It's not an overwhelming smell, but fairly strong. I think I'm going to have to air it out when the weather is sunny. Or possibly have it cleaned, which I really don't want to do considering its price. The whole point was to not spend a lot of money.UPDATE: I left it outside for a day when it was windy and cold and the smell went away. It's nice now, but just know that you may have to do the same if yours soaks up the smell of the ships and trucks and whatever cargo it's shipped with. It was wrapped very well in plastic, but absorbed smells anyway (including the smell of the outdoors when I aired it out). Overall, I'm happy with it and like the way it looks and feels now.EDIT: 7/22/2017. Just discovered that it fits in my older white GE washing machine. Washed with no problem and draped it over some chairs on the deck on a hundred degree day. Dried within the day. It also handles my schnauzer trying to dig a hole through it and a small child loose with a yogurt drink. It looks just like it did when we got it.You'll need a gripper or some kind of mat under it since it's cotton and will slip on a hard floor.

Soft to walk on.
I absolutely love the look of this rug. I would love to give it 5 stars, but, it is NOT very durable. I always have a house full of grands, we've only had it a couple of weeks and there are pieces of the rug that are coming apart. I am not too dismayed as I just say, well, they add character. The reason I gave it 4 stars anyway, is because the color is beautiful, and it brightens up my room so much. I wanted a teal rug, and as I took a close look at the pictures in the ad, decided the "teal" is really mostly grey, and what they call "blue" is really more teal. If you want teal, order the blue rug. I would suggest using it in a less busy room, but I would still buy this rug again. For the price, you really can't beat it. We laid it on top of our existing rug for padding and I would suggest you use a pad under it if you spend a lot of time on the floor or have kids. All in all I am very happy with my rug and have gotten lots of compliments on it.

Good quality but stinks!!!!
This rug is really beautiful and great quality for the price and size of it. The colours are perfect for my sons playroom. I love it, However my rug smelt so strongly of musty/mold.. like something really old you find in someone’s basement. I noticed old reviews in the previous years about the same problem, but was very hopeful the issue would be cleared by now. We hung it outside to air it out.. so far it’s helped a little but the smell is still there. Unfortunately if it doesn’t get better in the next few days.. I will have to return this product.
