Great value for money!
Great for what it is. Small little notebook that will help with all your day to day needs. Can it get online easily? Yes. Can you use it as a word processor and type and create documents? Yes. Is it worth the price? For sure. The memory maybe lacking somewhat but with a USB memory stick, that isn't a worry.I would recommend it to anyone with a smaller budget and realistic expectations, you'll love it.Also, purple. Pretty! (Also comes in white and blue.)

A Cost-Effective Laptop, Which Is Perfect For Those Who Ensure That It Matches What Purposes They Wish It To Serve
Having been using laptop computers since they were first produced, when they represented minimal performance attributes, precarious battery issues for considerable expense, I found this HP Stream to be an absolute gem at a cost-effective price. Its is important to remember though, when reflecting on its capacity to perform alongside modern day technology, that it has memory and performance limitations that make it more useful for those who require a lightweight laptop that matches the specific purposes for which they require it.From my perspective, I required a laptop that was sufficiently portable to carry with minimal effort and had a reasonable battery life and enough memory to allow text and office-based administration tasks to be carried out on the move. Access to the Internet and the capacity to download video streams was an additional factor in its favour, as was the memory card slot for storage of video and photo files. The addition of an Office 365 package is a bonus, although I did not personally require it, due to the fact that I already have my own Office 365 subscription, which allows me to run it on this machine for no additional cost, under the terms of my existing contract. Access to Cloud Storage via Office, also enables me to access files that I have created on other desktop and mobile devices when on the move.All-in-all a great machine for my personal purposes. However, I would suggest that other potential purchasers consider carefully their own requirements in a laptop and if they happen to match what this laptop has to offer, then I am sure that they would be as happy as I am with their purchase.

A poor product for even basic multimedia uses,
I am very disappointed with this PC, it came with Windows 10 & a 32 Gb ssd disc, but the windows 10 operating system is so big there is not enough space left to use it simply as a multimedia machine, I do not play games or have any software applications that I have added to it to fill the space. I use it for Facebook, YouTube & Amazon prime apps such as Prime video , Prime music , Amazon drive, Kindle & Audible. My inexpensive Samsung Galaxy tablet behaved better with more useful apps, & the same Amazon multimedia., Now the Search Engine , Edge does not even work with normal online searches, a common Windows 10 problem, & I cannot download another search engine such as Google Chrome , because there is not enough memory to allow it to download. Also my Amazon Prime does not seem to function with Windows !0 & I cannot download my photos onto my machine or even share them with Facebook from my Amazon Cloud, I am not new to PC's or laptops, I had my first PC in 1992 & I have worked with DOS & windows since Windows 3,1 & above. I bought this as a basic multimedia PC, that I did not want to have to spend my valuable time on making it function as usefully as an android tablet of the same price. I have had it since April 13th 2017 from Amazon, ,so I cannot return it & have only just found time to discover it's flaws, my previous HP laptop ceased to boot up when I downloaded Windows 10 in conflict with the free AVG antivirus, I tried to fix it with a repair disc unsuccessfully , but that is unusable,PS I am a senior citizen on a fixed income , & feel like taking up reading paper books & binning this junk & exiting the Internet world ,as I have dumped the TV , it is too expensive to use Facebook etc these days without a £500 plus PC, replaced regularly.

The Stream is great, Windows sucks, Linux is the way to go. Read this, took me an hour to write and ask any questions if needed.
People keep complaining about this Stream, but aren't being fair to it. Windows sucks, it takes practically 22GB of the available 28GB on this device, it isn't fair to blame that on the Stream. Yes it's specified as having 32GB, it has a 32GB EMMC chip inside but when it's been formatted with a partition table(what your files are stored in), it is reduced to around 28GB of storage space left.Screen:The screen is good, it does get reflections/glare which is annoying in sunlight so you will have to be careful with where you sit but it's clear and crisp. The backlight bright on full but I always have mine quite low. It does have some flex, it doesn't seem to be the hinges moving but rather the actual plastic casing around the bottom of the screen flexing slightly. It isn't that noticeable on a daily bases, I tend to set the screen angle then leave it as is until I've finished using the Stream.Keyboard:I really like the keyboard, I don't touch type so cannot comment on that aspect but generally it's a decent size and feel. I've typed for prolonged periods with to issues to my hands/fingers, I have big man hands, it doesn't feel cramped for me and I can generally access all keys without having to move my hands much from either side of the touchpad. The enter key is slightly smaller than I was first initially used to but I am used to it now.Touchpad:Feels great, doesn't hurt my finger tip from vigorous sliding around and you can just tap it for various clicks. Physically pressing the touchpad is horrible for me, I feel like I'm breaking it but I can just tap it and I don't ever have to physically press the buttons. Despite the physical button press aspect, I really like the touchpad, it is one of the better ones I've used and I've used a lot.Wireless:The Wifi is very good, doesn't randomly drop nor work intermittently. It has a good range, connects to both 2.4G and 5G wireless networks.Speakers/Headphones:This is a downfall on the Stream, the speakers aren't great sounding but they do work. They are tinny sounding and just generally not that great but they are clear and you can understand what is being played on them fine. They are underneath the Stream so the sound will vary depending on what surface you are on and they are generally loud. When using headphones I'm very happy as the sound is great albeit loud when on full, which means there is a decent sound chip inside the Stream but unfortunately just mediocre speakers.Ports:The full sized HDMI is a great addition, it's another reason why I purchased this product over others similar. Having 1xUSB2, 2xUSB3 are good, they are the standard distance apart so if you have a overly large USB stick then having all 3 ports in use will be very unlikely. Headphone jack is a dual one, it works with headset that have inbuilt microphones which is good as there isn't a dedicated microphone port. The MMC port works great, nothing spectacular about it besides it works well.Battery:I can't comment for total time available on battery within windows as I didn't test it long enough but I'd say it's less than the stated 9 hours as Windows is a resource hog. On (Arch)Linux however I get around 10 hours of usage with my backlight on 10-20%, minor web browsing using Google Chrome, various Terminal windows open, Sublime and Libre-office open. The battery time I get is great, I don't need a really fast CPU so that means lower power usage which makes this beauty last even longer.PSU:It's smaller than most, nice long cable, doesn't hum and the connector doesn't feel loose in the power port.Weight/Case:The weight is brilliant, it feels very light, I have to be careful as I have a habit of being heavy handed. I wouldn't say its a light as paper but it is very light. The plastic case is good, it clearly isn't metal and doesn't have a expensive feel or finish too it. Although I personally really like the feel and look of the Stream so it's a completely individual point. What is the Stream like with Windows installed?Due to Windows being so large and a resource hog; The CPU is nearly maxed at all times until all the bloatware has been stopped from running, RAM has around 2GB in use and the EMMC has 4GB free. It isn't very useful at all like this which the blame falls on Windows, once you've got rid of bloatware it will run a lot faster than previously but the storage space is still lacking. What is the stream like with Linux installed?Absolutely marvellous! CPU usage is low, only a few things spike it temporarily and the RAM usage is far lower than windows. The biggest difference is the EMMC, only around 5/10GB taken up depending on the Linux variant you choose so you'll have at least 18-23GB free for use. Wifi works out-of-box, all keyboard functions work fine, sound detected and working. Haven't had any problems with it thus far and everything has been working out-of-box.I run Arch Linux on mine with Awesome-WM, with all programs required I've used around 6GB of EMMC space used, it leaves me with 22GB left for storage and I'm actually surprised I'll even need that as I mount my home server drives which store the majority of my files. This is a great low usage laptop which is more suited towards web surfing, programming, text based actions such as writing and just generally low end tasks. This laptop will NOT be useful for Gaming, major photo editing, intensive compilation tasks, hours of YouTube, Netflix or Media viewing.
