Q: Will it be fine for women thumbs? Thinking have starting wood carving as a hobby.

I think they are more for men than for women. Some are adjustable with velcro, but what I did was get some of that green or brown narrow tape that you will find at most carving sites. My grandson wanted to learn to carve, so I bought some of that tape and made a custom guard and it worked really well. The tape is sort of sticky and wrapping it around the thumb several times makes a nice guard which in my opinion is better than the pre-made one size fits all guards. You can get the tape on most of the sites that sell carving hardware or just put "thumb guard tape" in your search engine and it will probably get you where you want to go.

Q: my thumb is 1" wide at knuckle, would this fit me? if won't have an idea where i could order one. i'm cursed with huge hands and feet

My thumb is 1" wide as well at the knuckle. It is a little snug for awhile, but then after it is broken in it fits good. I hope that helps.

Q: how large is this guard?

I have a medium sized hand and the guard fits well until the elastic over the top wears out. I just use first aid tape to keep it on at that point. It is a good guard. I especially like that the leather comes down an covers that fleshy part between the thumb an first finger.

Q: why don't you have extra large? Large is too small

I agree an I had the same issue. I had to rip out stiching and re sew to make fit.

Great product

Upon opening the package and seeing them, let's face it they aren't stylish. However, after a momentary pause I saw they were well constructed. Next time I did a whittle I used one. Wow super comfortable, stays in place for me and doesn't bind. After a few moments barely noticed they were there. I will definitely other more when these wear out. Nice to have well made safety equipment you don't mind using and provide peace of mind. I highly recommend.

Came apart after one month.

It works ok but mine was poorly constructed and came apart after one month. I wrap tape around item and then it does the job.

Minimal protection

The first time I used it, a cheap exacto knife sliced right through like it was butter. Got a couple of stitches. Not sure what the intended use of this is but it sure won't stand up to any knife

Perfect

I got them for my dad to put on his thumbs so he doesn't have t wrap them in electrical tape when he's using a knife to clean the skull plate on his deer antlers.
