Recommended all-round primer for miniature painters.
I gave this product 5stars for ease of use - and by that I mean it is easy to pop off the lid and pour out the paint - though this is an airbrushing product and getting the dilution absolutely correct is a dark art - something I am only starting to grasp. In general, I think this is an excellent primer. I use it exclusively for priming miniatures. It takes a few light coats to get full coverage, but as long as you use a gentle touch and let each coat dry fully between applications then it produces beautiful results. When compared to rattle-can spray-primers, the preservation of detail and absence of additional texture when using an airbrush to apply the primer is stark. The finish is a pale, neutral grey; much closer to white than black. I have not yet tried brush-painting directly onto the primed mini, only airbrushing paints on, and that works great. Just go easy and let things dry before you add more layers. As for diluting your paint, I found I had to or else it dried on the airbrush tip/nozzle. I tried distilled water, airbrush flow improver, standard thinner, and airbrush thinner (all Vallejo) in different combinations. The dedicated airbrush thinner would be my go-to, ease-of-use recommendation with my current level of experience. Be aware that this is very thin paint with a very low surface tension straight out of the pot, and it is easy for the lid to get messy. I transfer an aliquot to a smaller dropper bottle with a narrow applicator and carefully dilute in the dropper bottle so I can transfer directly to the airbrush. And I prime in batches (priming days) because you will need to strip down the airbrush and give it a full clean after using primer - it likes to dry quickly, and it particularly likes to dry to itself. Will be buying more Vallejo primers from this range.

Excellent primer
Really good and consistent primer. Good coverage and dries really quickly. Really good base coat for model kits

Good rattle can alternative
Used with an airbrush to prime miniatures inside when the British weather is... normal. Overall finish is ok and works as a good base for contrast paints as it gives a smooth finish. It starts to form a thin skin in a reasonable time which can impact the quality of the finish if you disturb it by going over the same area again. Some issues with it rubbing off on sharper edges a bit too easy almost like it has not bonded with the plastic. Have been leaving it for at least 24 hours before trying to paint over to make sure it has dried properly.

Perfect primer for any model
Nice even coverage when painting. Recommend a 50/50 mix if using with an airbrush.Covers well and drys quickly but not to quickly. You can not go wrong with Vallejo paints

Great all round primer.
Works great through an brush and doesn't need thinning. Drying time is quick and it leaves details easy to see.Great value for money.

You can use this with a brish
I get the impression that this is targeted at airbrush users because it is super thin!! I could be wrong though. Either way, I use it with a brush all the time and, even though it goes on translucent and doesn’t LOOK like it’s covered the whole model, it provides an amazing surface to apply other paints on to, including Citadel’s Contrast Paint range.Definitely a worthy paint to have in your arsenal! I’m sure it works even better with an airbrush!!

Great primer
Easy to use, doesn't need thinning to much and flows nicely through the air brush. Gives a nice matte finish (looks glossy when wet).Only down side is the nozzle, I really don't get on with Vallejo nozzles. I find that it runs a bit which sits in the lid.

It is best for use by a scale modeller
Arrived promptly and is very easy to find on amazon and is the most practical way to prepare model aircraft for painting. Is the most accessible way to use ready prepared. In addition is the most sure way to ensure that models are completed to the highest levels of accuracy and specification. One of the most useful products that I have found so far on amazon
