This is one of the best things I have ever bought. I wanted to put some old video footage into a montage I was creating for my daughter's 21st birthday so I bought this, fully expecting it not to work! Once I had figured that i needed to plug it into my vcr/dvd output rather than input (!) and that in my case I needed to copy the tape to dvd first (due to the nature of my vcr/dvd) I never looked back. Copying to my PC was quick and easy, and the results were better than I expected...even when shown on a 40 inch TV. A brilliant product.

First it was neigh on impossible to locate the download for the driver on the ION Audio website, since nowhere does it actually the list the name of the product. Once I located it, I was, and am still unable to get the software to open, because it does not recognise the very hardwear it is made for. Having used a few other analogue to digital converters, which are basically "plug and play", I can without a doubt confirm that this one is a real waste of time and money.

Firstly, for anyone wondering, this IS compatible with Windows 8.1 - It works on my new laptop which is running on 8.1. My second comment on this video capture device regards the picture quality of captured footage. I used it to capture old wedding footage from a VHS video recorder, and the resulting digital footage was good quality overall, but displayed a large amount of jagged, flickering edges whenever fast movement occurred on screen. I give it 3 stars for that reason alone.

Very happy with this product. Instructions could be better, but once I'd figured out how to use it I found it very easy to use. The video editing software is a bit basic, but my priority was to transfer old home video from Hi-8 to digital format and it's done that without any problems.

I am quite pleased with this bit of kit that is simple plug and play after you have loaded the software, easy to use and does what it says on the box... this has enabled me to copy all my old videos off tape and onto DVD's... the one drawback is that until you experiment and learn the quick way of doing things, it can be a bit lengthy, but once you get the hand of it... zipped in no time... for the money I am very pleased with it...

Advertised as a device that would capture and copy all VHS recordings but it won't capture a copyrighted one. My video player is on its last legs and I wanted to copy them on to DVD so I could continue to watch them, but this device won't do it. Bad advertising from the company selling it.It also has an installation disc with it which has the license number on the reverse of the packet but it didn't work either. I had to phone them to get a working number.Overall I'm really not happy with this product and have decided it was a complete waste of money.

MAC said not compatible with Os set up on windows laptop but it would keep stopping recording after a few seconds and say copyright protected. Its in the bin.
