Book of Animal Comstellations
I got this book to help my grandchild learn about astronomy and how space is around us in the sky. This was given as a gift with his birthday and he received it with his first telescope. The best part of this book is a sky map of the constellations actually drawn out so he can look in the sky for them. I wrote a transcription to him, letting him know how his own father got one also abt his age and he can come to my place as we have almost clear skies every night. I will help him or his Dad can work with him as a family idea and show him the constellations. It is a great learning book for the kids and first- timers.

Pretty pictures!
Great illustrations! It's very pretty. Book was thinner than expected. I was hoping for it to provide more story or background to the constellations depicted. My little stargazer is very pleased with it and snuck the book to school and to camp.

Beautiful illustrations and story telling of our cosmos.
This book I purchased as a baby gift for my good friends and it absolutely blew me away. The illustrations are so beautifully done really playing on the magic and beauty that exists within our nights sky while also depicting the stories of the constellations in a way that would intrigue not just a child but a grown adult to want to look up and know more. Beautifully done. Way above my expectations.

Beautiful Book
I give this book 5 stars based on my son's enjoyment of it. I first saw this book at our Nature Center, and he so enjoyed it that I bought him a copy. I truly believed it would be too old for him (he's 3 1/2) but he adores it. I think because we go to the planetarium often he is able to really make the connections between what we see at the planetarium and in the book. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and the information is very well presented. We also have 2 other of Ms. Mitton's books. While at first glance they may seem too advanced for the preschool crowd, I can testify that the preschoolers I know (my son and his classmates) really love these books and go back to them over and over. I highly recommend Ms. Mitton's books.

Beautiful and informative book for children
This is a beautifully illustrated book concentrating on the animal constellations. It is charming , informative and engaging for young readers. An extra is that it gives information about constellations that not the most commonly known yet apply to the theme of the book. A great book.

This is a fabulous book if you want to interest ...
This is a fabulous book if you want to interest little kids in looking at the stars. It counts among the favorites for both my two year old and four year old. It has given both kids an interest in the stars and my 4 year old has already learned to identify a few constellations.

Not for toddlers. Content is too broad and general
Book is too broad in text (definitely not before 6-7 years, kids were not interested at all). And pics are also more like paintings not illustrations. Not a teaching book at all. My 3 year old is scared of pics which never happen before

Precioso

Out of this world
What a beautiful book! The illustrations are some of the most bright and vivid that I have seen. The text is so very readable too and not so long that children would find it too much to take in. It describes some of the main constellations and well-known stars within them. It also describes which stars to look for by their colours and brightness, with useful hints on how to find them in relationship to the pole star and milky way. Boys in particular love finding out facts such as these and with this book you can encourage them to start really young. So keep them off the playstation and take them out to look at the stars for a bit of awe and wonder. I cant wait until the next clear night so that I can have a go at spotting these myself.

Perfect for little ones
Grandchild (age 6) has a thirst for all things space. This book is a lovely characterisation of some of her favourite constellations. Also shows her the southern sky. She'll explode with the excitement of this! Lovely little book. Wish I had one to keep for myself now!

Waste of money
It's definitely not a book for little children. If you are looking to introduce your cold to constellations this is probably not the book. I found it to be too prescriptive for little minds...
