Thank you for your inquiry on the Howard Miller Talon wall clock. You are able to access the face of the clock -- there are screws in the back that you'll need to take out. I'm not sure why you would want to do that, though! Also, this clock says it's "cherry," but it's actually plastic and the color of the plastic is cherry. It actually is a beautiful clock, despite the plastic (and it doesn't look plastic on the wall). We have one up in our guest house and it's quite handsome! I'd like to address the other comment regarding the clock not working properly. If you receive a defective clock, we stand 100% behind our products we sell, and we would ship you a new one out free of charge. Q: so it's an atomic clock then?

This is NOT an atomic clock. There is no radio in this clock to receive the time. The timezone change is done through fixed hard dates by its little processor. You set the date including year and the time. And then you say whether you want it to adjust automatically or not. If yes, it will change on the 2nd sunday in march (I think that's the date) and the first sunday in November. I actually prefer that it is programmed and not a radio. Those never seem to work very well for me, in our area.

The 625-417 has a Auto Daylight Savings™ movement that automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time, and the 625-418 does not have this feature. Hope this helps.
