UNUSABLE-Will Not Hold Tap Even Close to Straight! Such Shameful Quality Control...
Does NOT hold any taps straight no matter what you try-the jaws of the chuck are WAY off (see picture-ruler is parallel to shaft). UNUSABLE and unbelievably poor quality control that these were even let out the door of the factory.I bought two of these in the small and large size (M5-M12 & M3-M6) from TWO DIFFERENT SELLERS and BOTH ratcheting tap handles had the same exact problem, holding the taps at an obvious angle.I don't get it, a lot of manufacturing effort was obviously put into these-they look great, the chrome finish is real nice (rare for China manufacture), the ratchet action good, slide handle smooth with positive locking on the grooves at each end. They look almost comparable to a nice quality German made shorter ratchet tap handle I have had for years other than the knurling on the chuck isn't great (common problem) and there are a couple spots of rather crude grinding on the shaft to smooth a roll pin.All this apparent manufacturing effort by the factory only to give short shrift to THE MOST IMPORTANT PART-THE CHUCK HOLDING THE TAP STRAIGHT!!!! This major oversight makes this tool completely unusable-the angle on the tap is so bad it would oblong the threads terribly but more likely just break the tap in the hole.WOW, hard to believe the factory cranks out garbage like this-why do they even bother??

Cheap but good
A relatively sturdy product - does what it's supposed to do. The jaws aren't great & the clasping mechanism is what you might expect for something this inexpensive. My biggest gripe is the ratchet - it's got maybe 8 teeth? You have to turn it back 45 degrees to get to the next tooth, so half of your backstroke is wasted. That said, it's fairly inexpensive, so still worth the money.

works well BUT can use a simple modification
It works well it's a tap holder. What I didn't like is that it didn't seam to hold smaller taps well. 10-32 fit kind of loose.I took out the jaws and put them on a belt sander to make them meet together and form a smaller square hole. it now fits an 8-32 tap well.I build new equipment and this pretty much gets used for chasing powder coated or plated holes, sometimes new threads. It works well, I use it a couple times a week.

Doesn’t hold the tap straight. Smh
It’s cheaply made and doesn’t hold the tap straight in the double jaws. It won’t cut straight threads. Waste of time and money. It’s going back ASAP. Don’t bother. Total garbage.

Product Works as Described
I was impressed with the tool that came with everything including the handle, which multiple negative reviews stated was missing. I wished there were more than just one tool for limited size taps. This tool with a ratchet capability certainly helps to work in tight areas where a standard tap wrench would not move as easily--would have been nice to have it on hand when worked on transmission pan. I highly recommend this tool to anyone who has a set of taps and dies.Seller shipped the product on time with excellent condition.

It works great for hard to reach holes
Initially I had the same problem Mark described. I took the chuck nut completely off and found that the gripper parts were not parallel to each other - so the tap only went in part way. I put the tap in the nut and gripper and then screwed it back on the wrench. A little lube should solve the problem. As and aside, the ratcheting mechanism looks exactly like the mechanism on a ratcheting screwdriver I've had since the 1950s.

Works great
I gave it a 4 stars because it doesn't hold 8-32 and down, the wrench worked great for larger sizes. Either it did not say or I missed the size range. I modified the jaws and I can use it for 6-32 and up now.

Good Handle
Good for hard to access holes. Feels well built. The only complaint was the chuck doesn't really bite down on the tap to hold it well so it came out a few times and had to be reinserted. Not really a problem but if I was tapping holes often or downward instead of upward this would bother me.

Very happy with this product, would buy again!
I used this with a tap (tap not included) to rethread the bolt holes for my trailer hitch. It would have cost me at least $80 to take it into a shop and have it done. This paid for itself on the first use and then some! The hole was in a hard to reach and awkward position, like most parts on a car. This did the trick and the ratcheting mechanism proved to be very useful and reliable. No idea how long this would last as I only used it once, but for my use, it was a tremendous value.

Why didn't I know these existed.
I don't think I have ever tapped a hole in a convenient spot in my life. I have hacked and broken so many short T-handles just to fit around frames and manifolds, wires and hoses. As a light-duty DIY'er this tool solves so many headaches. Worked great for me; but possibly not advisable for everyday industry use.
