Generation Lighting 8468-12 Jamestowne Transitional Two - Light Outdoor Wall Lantern Outside Fixture, Black Finish

This fixture is an attractive upgrade to our old acorn shaped lights that came with the house in 2003. This is a fixture that offers a lot for a budget price. As such, don't expect anything extra, like wire nuts that are needed for installation. I would have liked to see the white and black wires be a little longer to facilitate wiring while holding it up to the wall (I propped the bottom on a 2x4). Also, because my builder used a single gang rectangular rough in box that is normally used for switches and outlets, instead of the customary round box for wall sconces, I had to get a different mount that is "X" shaped and which can be rotated to facilitate installation in this type of box. This is not the lights fault! But be prepared for that possibility. The glass is thin, but beveled, so it looks nice. As noted, this is not a heavy duty light like you might expect if you were paying hundreds of dollars for it.Packaging. The lights were sufficiently protected to arrive without damage (I bought three). They used cardboard box and some cardboard inside to stabilize the light. But there were a couple of pieces of the crappy, crumbly styrofoam that comes apart and gets all over everything. I would encourage the manufacturer to replace all styrofoam with cardboard to aid in recyclability.Product quality: The metal is soft and thin and the glass is thin but beveled. Why did I rate it as high as I did? Because it was cheap! This is not Kitchler. I did notice that one of the mounting nuts started to mill away the sheet metal as I tightened it up to the wall, so it is soft. The black coating on the nuts did wear away easily when I put a small 7 mm wrench on it to tighten the fixture up to the wall.Installation: I had special challenges because my builder originally used the wrong rough in boxes for lights and I was not able to use the provided mounting plate, which is sturdy and nicely finished. So, in addition to the provided mounting hardware, you may need an adjustable "X" shaped bracket. You will also need two wire nuts, a flat and phillips screwdriver and a bit of patience as is the case with all exterior sconce installations. If you need to tighten the two black hexx shaped mounting nuts more than finger tight, you will need a 7mm wrench (that's really small), or a small crescent wrench.My wife loves the lights as a nice modern take on an old school carriage lamp. After these were installed we were definitely the crazy couple who drove around our block three extra times the first night we came home to them JUST to admire what a difference these lights made for our front porch! Adds SUCH curb appeal!Our thoughts:- These lights were incredibly easy to install. Installing them took less than an hour. The whole process for us took a bit longer only because we prepped our brick walls for them- we pressure washed the wall and removed the old outline of our old porch sconces.- They are VERY sturdy and are not too heavy, but not too lightweight. They will not fall over when you set them down as you’re installing them, if you get what I mean.- The finish is very high end, looks very much like real iron!- The immaculate glass has beveled edges, and both lights did not come with even one scratch! I was very, very impressed.- They were both packaged beautifully as well. The company sure put a LOT of care into making sure they got to us unharmed.- We used 200w led candelabra bulbs in daylight white. I will add a photo of the lights at night ASAP. But it a perfect choice for us. We matched our old 400w led daylight white bulbs that we had in our old porch scones perfectly.- When I say that these are such a steal at the price we got them for (around $65), I mean that I couldn’t find “carriage light” looking sconces for less than $130 a pop until I found these. Don’t hesitate if you see these for around $60-65 on here, they go up to $80-90 at times. Such a good deal and an amazing quality product!!!- 10/10 recommend! Beautiful updated look in less than 30 mins. Super easy to install. Great price. Real metal and glass. Solid black, not bronze. 5 stars all around!!!!! I’ve used these on two of our houses now. The only consideration is that because there is no base to the lantern, the glass will need to be wiped down frequently but makes changing light bulbs a whole lot easier.

I bought this for my front porch and I couldn't be more satisfied. It is an extremely well made light fixture. The antique brushed silver went perfect with my gray with white trim house. It is a muted darker gray and not shiny which I really like. It has a very classy look and adds that perfect touch. I bought the square style with two candelabra bulbs and it is the perfect size, larger than most but makes a statement. Love it so much I am planning on buying two more, same style in a smaller size for each side of my garage door. I shopped around for quite awhile before deciding on this light and I am so happy with my choice, both color and style!

I wanted lights like this, but the only ones I found were way too expensive. Also, these fixtures were extremely well made, not crooked, had all the screws, etc, and very well packaged! These didn't come up on search under porch lights, I had to find some on another web sight and sear on Amazon by the name of the manufacturer Sea Gull Lighting. These were so reasonable, and they are beautiful. They are very bright too! As I recall they were pretty easy to install and they add charm and elegance to any home or garage as well as excellent lighting. They also accommodate Edison LED chandelier bulbs which are highly energy efficient and provide excellent lighting. I loved them so much that when I moved to my new home I immediately ordered another one to be installed near the door of my new home.

It was hard to find brushed nickel lights at a lower price range. The piece of metal curling to the top is a bit more flexible than we would like. It looks good for the price. We also purchased the larger one for over the garage.
