Did my feet grow, or did they make them a bit smaller now?
I bought a pair of 13-D boots 2 years ago and immediately was unhappy.1- When putting the boot on, there was no structure to the upper part of the boot. It's basically leather and water-resistant mesh. The bottom of the boot kept flopping around as I tried to pull them on.2- There isn't a pull tab or loop to help you pull the boot onto your foot. As I pulled it onto my second foot, I heard and audible short 'RRRP' and thought I tore something. It seems that I didn't do any damage but it scared me about my new boots.3- They were snug. Very snug. Not to the point that they hurt, but were a bit uncomfortable.4- They were quite light, to the point that I worried about their durability. I had previously been buying Magnum boots in the $80-110 price range and these were $150+. I thought about returning them but decided to try them for a few days. And I am glad I did. They broke in within a week or two and ended up being the most comfortable boots I have had in a long, long time. The bottom of the boot upper (not the tread) is durable leather about an inch high. Anything hitting the side of the boot will hit leather. The rear going up to the top of the boot also has a leather strip, from the ankle upwards, giving a bit of protection from something hitting your foot from behind. The rest seems like mesh, but does not let in water if you quickly remove your foot after going into a good sized puddle.I will wear anything from a 12.5 wide to a 13 to a 13 wide, depending on what kind of shoe / boot / sneaker I am getting and how the manufacturer sizes them. For winter wear I would often get a wide to handle thicker socks. After a year and a half the tread wore down to the point where I needed new boots. I decided to get a pair of Magnum Stealth Force 6" waterproof boots. I bought these in the past and remembered liking them. When I got them they felt like bricks. Very heavy compared to the Danner 8" boots, and though I did get a wide, they seemed a bit loose around the toe. I wasn't thrilled, especially since they wore unevenly after about 6 months. I decided to get another pair of Danner 13-D boots. And the two year newer Danners hurt like h@@@. They squeezed my toes to the point that my toes bunched up and I got blisters. I had to wrap sports tape around my toes to wear them I hoped they would break in and widen a bit but no-go after a month. Athletic socks I wore with these started getting holes on the side of the toe from the friction of the tight boot. I ended up returning them and getting the same boots but now in a 13-2E wide.I just put on the 13 2E wide and they feel snug. Not too snug. Just a bit uncomfortable. Just like the 13 D boots I got two years ago. So did my feet get a bit bigger? Or did manufacturing change a bit since I bought these before? I dunno.BTW, I'm wearing the same athletic socks I normally do, since these are actually pretty good in winter temps going down to freezing. I often wear thermals below 30F but haven't had problems with my feet being cold unless I stand in a snowdrift for a while.

Amazing
Just wore these for the first time today and they fit absolutely perfect. They are true to size and fit snug. The provided insole is absolutely garbage and paper thin so plan on buy Dr. Scholl's or something similar. Other than that my only complaint is that the sides seem very flimsy so I'm not sure how well they will support my ankle when I put these to use.Update: There was a rough break-in period of about a week but these boots are absolutely amazing. I have worn these boots 40+ hours a week in all kinds of weather and they are hands-down the best boots I have ever worn for my job. They are super light and super durable. Every other tactical boot I've tried has lasted me 6 months if I'm lucky, and these are coming up on 3 years. The only problem I may run into is the sole may lose it's grip around year 3 as it is starting to become pretty worn. They aren't completely waterproof and aren't my favorite in winter because they aren't very warm, but I still love them. I plan to get another set of these boots and will probably never buy any other boot for the rest of my career.

Worth the price
Perfect for my academy, shines greatUpdate- it’s been 3 years since I started my police career and these are the only boots I trust to hold up to constant abuse. From pushing vehicles out of snow drifts in -10 weather to searches through woods and streams these boots have held up amazingly. I’m only on my second pair but have a brand new pair in the box on stand by.If you find a boot that you like I recommend buying two pairs so you always have a back up. Never know when they will discontinued.

ideal boots for me
I've had these for a week and so far this is the perfect boot for me. I am 5'9" stocky and flat-footed. (yeah I know, a real prize)These give me good support and are light. I went 1/2 size up to wear these with double socks if needed. I am typically a 12.5 and got the 13. They were almost immediately comfortable. I often have issues with my toes in boots but the box on this is nice and wide. I am not using inserts.I wish these were made in USA as my other Danner boots are. Initially I am very happy with the construction and quality of these boots.

Lightweight, breathable, roomy
I love this boot for how lightweight and breathable it is. Fairly comfortable as well. Although, I do prefer the fit of the Danner Kinetic GTX. I have long feet but they're not particularly wide or bulky so there's some extra material to the shoe I don't need. Combine the shape and fit of the Kinetic with the materials of the Tachyon and I would have the perfect boot.

Great boots
I work two security jobs that have me constantly on my feet, going from walking to running quite often. I’ve gone through countless 5.11 boots and they would always wear down quickly or a zipper would bust. I decided to go with these because of danners reputation. This pair is extremely lite, and perfect for all day walking. They take a nice shine to them when kiwi is applied. One downfall is that they have NO ventilation. After the first night I peeled them off, it smelled horrid. But nothing some pray won’t fix.

I like them so far
I like them so far. No real ankle support. The are comfortable, but more comfortable with different insole. As others have said they are not insulated so you will feel the cold unless you are wearing cold weather socks.Update: The tread pattern on the soles work great on pavement. I got onto a hillside that was was rocky and grass covered. The soles could not get any grip and I had to do a control slide of about ten feet before I could find a surface they could get a grip on.

Excellent Boots
Second pair of these boots. I got the water proof ones this time. Only reason I got a new pair was I could not shine the old ones anymore. I like these cause they are light and feel like a minimal shoe. I have ran in them, kicked in a door or two and been in the mud and stood on asphalt for hours. So far these boots are awesome.

Getty good boots
Work great. Kept my feet dry on the hot days walking through swamps and the cold days (with layered socks) when there's melting snow. Extremely light weight and would recommend the black GTX model over the others. Good quality as well. I've been giving them quite the abuse and they've held up. A little uncomfortable at first because I have higher arches on my feet, but once the materials stretched they became extremely comfortable. Blackening is easy as well. Good boots for fast pace ruck marches as they are light and comfortable.

Exactly What I've Been Looking For
It's almost too soon to give something 5 stars out of the box, but these are literally the boots I've been looking for.I'm not in the police force or armed forces, I'm just a guy who has worn docs his whole life and now wants something a little lighter and easier on my knees. They fit perfectly, are comfortable, look great, I can't say enough good things about them on my first day of use.Time will be the ultimate test, but so far, so good.

Great boots
I’m a Canadian armed forces member and I use these boots everyday while in uniform. No complaints, but if I were to change one thing about my order I would have ordered a size or half size smaller.

Amazing boots, as light as I expected
Amazing boots, as light as I expected! No break in period but considering an insole for some extra arch support
