Does the job
For the guy who was concerned about this being an "actual" Ford #4 cup, for the purpose of anyone other than scientists doing laboratory work it is close enough. For spray painting, paint viscosity recommendations typically give a range of viscosities that are acceptable. For example, one chart I have says for oil based enamels, laquers and urethanes on wood the viscosity should be 32 - 48 seconds in a Ford #4 cup. That is a 16 second range. Anything within that range is acceptable. Any finer adjustments that are needed can be made with the settings on the gun. As you get to know your gun, you will find where in the range you should target the viscosity for best results. So the viscosity cup only needs to be reasonably close to an "actual" Ford #4 for use in spray painting. This cup will get you there. A true Ford #4 cup, which can be used for measuring viscosity in a laboratory, costs a couple hundred dollars. This cup costs less than five dollars and works fine for spray painting.

Works as described
Very well made, sturdy plastic and handle is not cheap or flimsy. No lines or scores so it's very easy to clean. Would buy again but someone would have to steal it or throw it away by accident to need a new one.

Must have Item to spray properly
My spray gun did not come with this item I used it without for years with mixed results I finally decided to bite the bullet and give one a try and the results in the finish were perfect I should have ordered this a long time ago

Possible new design?
The cup I received has a hooked handle and is not at all like the picture. Either it’s a updated version or a knockoff. That being said, it’s right on 10 seconds with water. If it’s solvent resistant, it may actually be a better design. I’ll update this review after I get a chance to use it.Update: Has stood up to acetone and lacquer thinner just fine. Works great.

Works.
It serves the purpose but does not appear to be very durable. Would suggest spending a liittle more and getting the hard plastic with the brass insert.

Great for getting it right time after time.
I hung out in the paint section of our local big-box home improvement store until a fellow with paint stains all over his clothes, on his fingers and cheeks. I asked him to suggest a starting point for diluting house paint for spraying. He suggested one part water and two parts paint. I started there, then added water bit by bit until it behaved in my sprayer. Then i filled this funnel and timed how long it took to empty out. There after, I could reproduce the viscosity and not have to be fiddling with the sprayer just getting that right. I hate painting!
