Great for group therapy!
I’ve been working in the addiction treatment industry for almost 9 years and I, too, am in recovery. Another therapist on my team had the 100 card set and allowed me to utilize it one day when I wasn’t feeling inspired (just being honest). At first, I thought about having each client “draw a card, which, if you’re working with a completely brand new group, isn’t the worst idea, however, since I knew each client to some degree, I personally went through and chose a card for each client that I felt suited their current situation/struggles/status, and handed them out at the beginning of group. Not only did I feel that I was able to get genuine responses from each client (even the more stubborn/flippant ones, which I was one of as well in my day), but it also took up the majority of group time which was precisely what *I* needed that day. Since then, not only did I order my own set (the expansion pack, at that), but clients have actually requested I “bust out the cards again” on their own due to their enjoyment of using them before. I really can’t recommend them enough. Especially if you’re new to therapy/counseling and still haven’t found your own groove with running groups. You can either give everyone a card and work your way around the room, or you can go through the cards yourself and pick one that touches on a common theme you’ve noticed coming up in group as of late.

Over priced if you are seasoned professional
This is interesting for those working with those new to recovery. However if you are clinician with experience these are topics that can be personally developed. However, my clients enjoyed, except the cards use complicated language at times, "compartmentization" being one of the concepts. Also complex in writing style so if clients have limited education it can not only be embarrassing for them, it calls for clinician to put in simple layman's terms. However, very insightful questions and other than price I would recommend if your the type of clinician who can reframe language. High applause for separating out questions depending on where in recovery cycle client is. Great gage on if client is experiencing true insight vs. just learning recovery language.

The questions are thought-provoking
I’m a therapist that purchased these for my group and the questions are thought-provoking and allow the peers to engage with each other on answers and responses. I will be looking at some of the other sets to purchase as well.

Excellent Evolution of Overcome Alcohol Cards
The Overcome Expanded game has been an insightful addition to my coaching sessions. With 130 cards designed to spark meaningful conversations, it offers a unique way to explore important topics around addiction recovery and mental health. Each question encourages open dialogue, making it easier to share experiences and feelings in a supportive environment. I appreciate how the game acts as an icebreaker, helping to create a comfortable atmosphere for discussing sensitive issues. It’s been beneficial not just for understanding addition issues of all kinds better, but also for fostering connections among participants. This game has enriched our discussions and provided a platform for healing and growth.

Good prompts
These are good for prompts. I like that they make engaging people easy and helps when having a brain fog day. These can be good for group or individual sessions. I think these should be used mostly with adults and filter out stuff for teenagers
