Great and flexible
This may not be a 7.1 dolby surround sound headset, but i am happy with it. I like the fact that it connects to a 3.5mm jack, so you can play with HDMI without having a ton of cables everywhere. The xbox controller connecter is the best thing and allows you to connect any PC headset to your xbox, so if you have a good PC headset that uses 2x 3.5mm jacks - a mic jack and audio jack - i would buy the xbox connector on its own, which will allow you to connect you headset into your controller, and then get the audio form your TV via 3.5mm headphone jack. If your TV does not have a 3.5mm jack, it comes with a RCA adaptor (red and white pin thing). This headset may not be bassy or as mentioned earlier 7.1 surround sound, they sound great and the mids are so easy to hear. Watch the video by the designers at Steelseries, but they basically mention how bass isn't everything, and i agree. The microphone is great, my friends say they can hear me very clearly, not too loud, not too quite.Overall great Xbox and PC headset and i would not get any other one due to its easy set up.

Good, with low points
Much like some of the other reviewers here, I am both impressed and disappointed with the 5XBs. On the plus side, they are very very comfortable and can be worn for long stints at the console, and the sound quality of the headphones is very good, with a lot of detail coming from the likes of Call Of Duty multiplayer for example, meaning you are less likely to wander into a group of foes as you can hear precisely where they are, and even the 'click' as they take the top off a grenade to cook. The design is also very robust as the wiring is very strong, the microphone slides in and out of the headphone casing well and can be positioned easily, and the whole thing can be pulled apart into 3 pieces for easy storage or travelling. Now for the bad bits... and in the main its down to the mixing unit. The mixer slides into the base of the 360 controller, though the fit is not flush and creeps out over the edges. You can also find that if you nudge it during game play it can cause interference and/or for either the voice or music to cut out. The worst thing about it is when you are charging the controller while using the headset, which leads to a massive amount of buzzing through the earphones.I have tweaked mine over the last month of usage to the point where I am happy with the headphones. However, I was very close to sending them back at one stage. I now have them set up without using the LiveMix feature, controlling voice and music/sounds independently, and managing the volume through a mixture of TV volume and xbox preferences. However, it shouldn't be this hard to get a good experience from a set of expensive headphones. So, in summary, if you are willing to invest time, they can be great, but if not, they can be really poor. For a company claiming in their videos that they are thinking about gamers and moving into the 360 market specifically, they need to take a longer look at what they are doing and ensure 'out of the box' quality.

Worth It!
I bought this for my son and he is now writting this review: This headset is a brilliant product and a massive improvement from my old headphones which were falling apart! This pair is very sturdy and it is one of the strongest headsets out there. It is fully transportable as you can seperate the pieces for compact spaces, you can then put it back together with ease. The sound quality is brilliant and you will hear every detail!Rating:Comfort 9/10Quality 9/10mic 8/10xbox 10/10pc/laptop 9/10livemix 10/10looks 10/10overall 9.5/10This is built for the xbox but is compatible with a laptop and pc! If you are wondering about getting this, yes i recommend you get it. Plus my FREE delivery took 3 days only!

Enemy boat spotted!
Great sound quality on the headphones, very comfortable; the padding on the ears is cleanly designed to be worn for extended periods, It has a nice telescopic microphone that actually makes people sound like themselves. Bass is deep and the separation is good, footsteps are crisp and picking out if someone is calling out in front or behind is easy. The headphones are good but they are only half the package. The spectrum audio mixer is in the pack as well which enables the headset to be used for xbox live communication, its easy to set up and also works as a pre-amp making things very loud in a good way. It also works with other gaming headsets which is a nice touch. As great as the mixer is it needs to be treated with a bit of love, I would make sure you unplug it from the console and pad after use as it may otherwise feed back next time you switch your console on, it's not that big a deal as long as you remember. Also: A warning to stick warriors, it doesn't plug into fightsticks very well so if you wanted to hear Guiles' theme really loud I'd get a different headset. I personally prefer the sound quality of this set to that of Turtle Beaches, I'd recommend them, whole heartedly. 4.5 Stars.

THIS HEADSET WILL NOT LAST LONG.
I am a PC gamer and in my opinion a headset should be rated in on sound quality, comfort and most importantly durability and although this product looks the real deal unfortunately the durability of the product is shocking. after just a few months of using the headset with no strain on the cable whatsoever the left ear peace stop working and this fault was due to the "unbreakable cable".I regret buying this headset and would advice anyone thinking about buying this headset to think again.

Risparmiato 70€ acquistandole qua, ma valgono tutti i 30€ spesi e sicuramente valgono anche i 100€ iniziali

Great for Glasses Wearer MMO Gamers - 4 months and still great!
January 20144 months and still great!I initially gave this headset a 1 star review in September when I first got them. You can see the original review below. I am changing this to a 5 star review for the following reasons.Sound: Sounds fantastic through the normal cord. I listen to the game sounds while in teamspeak. Great stereo sound.Microphone: My friends say I sound better than I did with my $200 Turtle Beach wireless headphones (in teamspeak).Support: I did indeed contact the Steelseries support department and they were going to have me return them for a replacement, but since I had already switched the cord and bought an extension, I really didn't have the static problem anymore. So their support was good in that regard.Glasses Wearer: Comfort: As far as being a glasses-wearer and having these clamp on my head, that has not been an issue. They are cushy soft. I use these for gaming and teamspeak, so I can play for hours and hours and they still don't hurt my head. I have had no problems with the microphone, which is easily moved out of the way. There are no fancy buttons on it for muting and such, which I have on the turtle beaches, which I didn't like and couldn't ever find while on my head anyway. If I want to mute I just click the icon on the teamspeak or on the sound on the PC.Cord Length: I do now have the Steelseries Merc Stealth keyboard, which I love, and the headphones attach directly to the keyboard, so it doesn't matter that the cord is short. If they sold these without the Xbox audio-mixer for gaming, like GW2, WOW, etc., I think they would have had much better reviews. But sadly they threw in that faulty audio-mixer cord which you don't have to use, and everyone is reporting has static. So if you just need a great pair of gaming headphones for glasses wearers (or not), they are extremely comfortable.Audio Mixer: Yes, if you use the audio mixer, mine has static. However, I found I could purchase an extension cord for the non-audio mixer cord so it is longer and goes to my laptop. Without the audio-mixer, which I think is used with Xbox, it sounds great.September 2013 - gave it a 1 star reviewI received these headphones yesterday which I will use on my PC for gaming. Tried them out for several hours.1) The cord from the headphones to the computer is extremely short. So I attached the cord to the audio mixer and then that to the PC and it works, but there is horrible static constantly.2) My friends in teamspeak said I sound like I am talking in bubbles.3) another said I sound like a smurf.I have contacted steelseries support to see if they can assist with settings to fix this, but from all the other reviews, likely they're just built this way.I bought them because I read a review that said they are designed for "glasses wearers." I just don't see it. They are comfortable and certainly beat out my $200 Turtle Beach Bluetooth headphones that clamp on my head and go through a set of batters every 2 days. But I don't see where they have a special something or other that fits around your glasses. Maybe I misunderstood the article on that. But yes, they are comfortable. So were the Plantronics headphones I tried out, but the cord for that was also short, so I returned those. We'll see how their support department handles this and I'll post an update.

Overpriced IMO and has flaws but still good.
Good headset. Though It's from like 2010 or something.Pros: Durable headset, Good quality headphones and mic, Comfortable and light for long hours of gaming.Cons: When using the adapter for xbox the headphones emit a slight buzzing sound. It's not loud but is definitely a con. Also the mic/headphone plug is STUPIDLY short. I have to use the xbox adapter just to get it to fit in the front plugins on my PC and i can't find a mic+headphone adapter to make extend it. Also i know this headset used to be $89.99 when it was new but it's older now. On the UK amazon i seen it for like $33 canadian for something.I think i should have gone with the sound blaster alpha. It's newer and has better sound quality, No buzzing sound, long enough cords, software that i would have enjoyed using and it's cheaper.
