If your door opens out, then the mechanism would also face outward. Not knowing how your doors are set but it seems like this would not work as the outward swing would me that the control [ability to lock] is also outside?

You can only lock this from the inside and it does not accidentally lock on its own so I don’t see how you could get locked out by it.

As long as you can attach it to the frame where the door closes it will work

Sure. There are 2 grooves at the top and the bottom to help you grip it easily. It also features arrows for indication. Use your thumb and forefinger to pinch both the top and bottom grooves, pull to the side and swing away from the door to open the lock. Reverse the actions to close.
