What are the cubic inserts used for?

The Mini 4, the tool in the upper left of the image, makes four 2" x 2" x 2" soil blocks. This tool comes with 5/8" white plastic seed pins that leave a dent in the soil block to place the seeds in. The Micro 20 in the upper right corner of image, makes 20 3/4" x 3/4" x 3/4" soil blocks; they are very small. These are often then transplanted or "nested" into the larger Mini 4 blocks before they are ready to be transplanted outdoors. In order to "nest" the Micro soil blocks into the Mini 4 soil blocks, you need to pop out the 5/8" seed pins and fit the Mini 4 with the black cube inserts so the resulting soil blocks can receive the Micro soil blocks. Otherwise, it would be like fitting a square peg in a round hole. We hope this helps.

Does this set contain all 3/4”, 2”, & 4” soil block makers?

This set includes the Micro 20 soil blocker, which makes twenty 3/4" soil blocks and the Mini 4 soil blocker, which makes four 2" soil blocks. It does not include the Maxi soil blocker, which makes 4" soil blocks. The Maxi soil blocker can be bought separately or in another larger 6-piece set.

Do the Mini's come with a set of pins installed in addition to the 1" add ons?
