AVID Country presents the latest release in our Four Classic Albums Plus series with a 2CD release from Buck Owens, complete with original artwork, liner notes, personnel details and 10 Bonus Tracks. "Buck Owens"; "Buck Owens"; "Buck Owens Sings Harlan Howard" and "You're For Me". Pioneer of what would later become the Bakersfield sound, Buck Owens was in fact a true Texan country boy. His early life was full of adventures and travel but it was not until a truck driving job in the late 1940s took him to Bakersfield where he found himself impressed with the Californian town. Settling there in 1951 with his first wife, Owens would take on session work travelling to Hollywood on a regular basis supplying back up to the likes of Wanda Jackson and Tennessee Ernie Ford and pioneering the Bakersfield sound on his own early recordings. In 1959 his career finally took off with a series of hit singles "Second Fiddle", "Under Your Spell" and "Above And Beyond" all produced for Capitol Records by his long time producer Ken Nelson. Buck Owens would record his debut album in 1961 appropriately titled "Buck Owens Sings Harlan Howard" as it was with Howard that he had many of his finest early hit records.
