Sampson's medium sport boots are good quality boots. I did not have any problem with sand under the boots when my mare was barrel racing, so they held well. She normally wears a medium, but I think she could have gone up to a large so I give them four stars for that. She is a 15.1 hand appendix, so not huge. Overall, I was very pleased!

This review is for the Sampson horse splint boots. I have a 15.2 hand appendix quarter horse and the medium was way too short. The quality is comparable to higher end splint boots. The Velcro is stitched on tight and stayed put during my ride.

These boots are thick so offer good protection. Because they are thick and not breathable material they do trap heat and cause the horse’s legs to seat so need to be hosed off after use to prevent crud build up/ fungus. The Velcro is very strong. The stitching is not as small and tight as I’d like, so their durability will come down to how long the stitching holds. Other than that, good basic protective boot. The size medium fits my 15.1hh mare well.

I use splint boots primarily for support assistance on steep back country trails and as a thorn barrier. We're deep in the Chihuahua Desert and that means cholla and large mesquite thorns that cause a real wound in a split second.These are thick enough to stop most thorns getting through and that's excellent. They do offer some support for my 22 year old stallion out in rough country with steep hills and arroyos.These boots are hot under long rides and you need to clean them thoroughly to get rid of sweat Bacteria between uses.

I use these boots for my horse that oversteps when he gets excited. I am working through his behavioral issues and am glad to find a boot that can protect his legs and offer support. These are much sturdier than my last pair. The Velcro is very good quality. They fit well and are easily adjusted. They are perfect for what I needed and have held up to the abuse. I like the black and that they hide dirt better.
