good read if you're looking for something to challenge your mind and change the way you think/behave now

This book was well done overall. It was written by a software coder/geek and he had an interesting way of framing things. I enjoyed a lot from this book, but got bored towards the end. I find a lot of books “write” for the sake of writing and I feel like all books could be condensed more. Would still recommend this book, epically to those who need help with “removing faulty thought loops”

Changing habits has got to be the hardest thing a person can do. Habits are so easy to form, I don't even notice I'm forming them until they're creating a real problem for me.This book helped me see how to form habits that not only aren't holding me back, but are good! That might sound simple, but for me it isn't at all. I'm a grumpy, stubborn person, but I have to admit that once I got into the swing of making better personal choices it kind of started to be a hobby in and of itself.It's funny how I know something to be true, but I don't want to act on it until someone says it to me in the right way, and that's exactly what I got out of this book.

PROS:I've read many books over the past 20 years on improving the quality of your life by changing your thoughts. This the first one that I've connected with and have found easy to do.I'm a 62-year-old computer geek so that's part of it as he uses computer jargon and stories to make his point. If you're not into computers you might not enjoy it as much. He's got a free version of the book online but it's a bit tricky to access. However, that might give you an idea if you'd like to purchase the book or not.Rather than abstract concepts, which so many of the books tend to use, this one has step-by-step actions I have been able to easily understand and do. I've been amazed at the difference it's already made.He has free online audios and a PDF workbook to go along with the book. Though the paperback version has the same workbook pages in the back of it. So as far as helpfulness this is a five-star book for me.CONS:There are a couple of things I didn't care for. You have to sign up to gain access to the free files, which is fine. But his instructions are confusing. He uses an external website to send you the audio files daily. I found it difficult to find after I left it.He also references an application to go with the book but evidently it's not available anymore. And there's no explanation anywhere about it. References to that need to be removed from the book and from his website which doesn't appear to be kept up to date. That was very disappointing. Especially for a guy who's a computer geek. Keep your stuff up to date man!I purchased The Kindle version first which is what I normally do. But because I found it so helpful I decided to also purchase the paperback version to aid me in the daily steps. I just received it today and I was disappointed and surprised to find the quality of the paper is like that of old trade back paperback books. Not sure how to describe it. And not sure the photo shows it. I haven't seen a book with this old dingy flimsy paper in a long time. Normally those type of books are a lot cheaper but this one wasn't.SUMMARY:Despite those technical issues I mentioned I can easily see this book being life-changing for me as it's already made an impact and I'm only halfway through it. This is partially because I connect with his method of teaching using geeky hacker stuff.Because I've read so many other books on the topic, there are many concepts in this book that connect to some of those, but he has made it much easier to understand and implement. For me anyway.Because of the changes I've already seen, I look forward to learning the rest of the techniques. It's been a fun journey.

Changing how you view your world, through your thoughts and actions. This book is a must read for everyone. If you totally are about your whole health and personal development. You should read this book. Building your mind to match your goals in life in so important and this book allowed me to see my holes; then correct them.

This book has been the foundation for tremendous growth in my life. I hope you give it a chance and go through it. Learning how to separate my mind from feelings, emotions and reality has been life changing.

At first this appeared to be a potentially useless book as the author doesn't seem to have credentials related to psychology and goes into being a recovering alcoholic (eye roll, sorry), BUT the exercises are helpful and even innovative at times. I like this book--it pretty much brings together all those mind tricks that you've read about in different places into one resource. It also attempts to hold the reader accountable, which is nice.

If you've read Prank the Monkey, you know what a great author Hargraves is. I bought this because I loved the Zugg comedy and have always been a follower of the things John is doing. I was NOT disappointed! This book blends the kind of pragmatic real world comedy I love from Sir Hargraves, and also delivers the intellectual hackery that the title boasts in large scale order.BRAVO
