Easy to use, quality scanner for slides, photos & assorted documents, at a reasonable price
My Kedok Photo and Film Scanner arrived this afternoon. It was well packaged and in perfect condition. It was up and running in minutes. Hey folks! Remember to remove the acetate protective sheet from the photo plate. I suspect some of those disappointed with the photo quality neglected to remove it. That would REALLY mess with photo quality! I have an enormous quantity of family slides, photos, some negatives, as well as a wide variety of documents dating to the late 1800's. This Scanner will be used in conjunction with my 11x17 format printer/scanner. I put the Kedok Scanner to the test tonight - scanning slides, photos, and aged clippings (e.g. family obituaries). Everything scanned quickly and with good quality. If I have a photo I want to save with exceptional resolution & color I will use my 11x17 scanner/printer. But, for the 1000's of pieces of data I have, this scanner is perfect. It is a great value for the money; the functions are easy to use; there is very little set up; data transfers to my laptop easily.

Quick and Versatile
Once set up, the scanner provides a quick and easy way to digitize photos, slides, and negatives. The scans are of good quality and can be edited to adjust cropping, exposure, or other qualities prior to copying/saving. If you need to scan printed photos, this device seems to be one of the better low-cost options available. There are some factors to be aware of: 1) the printed directions are not as clear and simple as they could be, 2) The date/time settings need to be re-entered if the device is disconnected from external power, 3) the plastic photo scanning surface can easily be scratched and is not easy to keep clean.

Clarity
I was very happy with the results. Easy to use and surprised to see how clear the negatives presented.

The bed is made out of plastic, not glass. It was completely covered in scratches.
The media could not be loaded. There really needs to be a way.You can zero, start an item and rate it. I should have listened to other reviews. This is an absolute piece of junk. Immediately after opening it, I found that it had terrible scratching all over the plate that holds the pictures. I took some pictures to illustrate just how bad it is. If I were to attempt to use this to digitized, my photos, my photos would come out looking like they had been through a mud puddle.

Awesome for slides and negatives
Easy to use. Works great for old slides and negatives. The photo portion uses the glass plate. Mine was very scratched producing a less than optimum scan. You can see the poor resolution and scratches on the picture. I reached out to the manufacturer to see if could purchase a new glass, but was told to return the unit to Amazon.

Best for film and slides
This product is easy to use and captures great images from negatives and slides even black and white. Very easy to process films rapidly with the included trays. Scans of photos are more difficult. It is hard to align the photos on the scanner bed but once aligned the quality is good.

I sent mine back
NOTE: I only used this for printed photos; I did not try using the negative scanner, so please keep that in mind while reading my thoughts.I loved the idea of this photo scanner. And on first try, it seemed like it would be wonderful. It was easy to figure out and operate. But the main thing about it that I liked so much was the fact that you can see on the screen how the photo looks BEFORE capturing it in a scan. That means you can adjust the positioning and know if it’s crooked etc - the screen shows in real time whatever appears on the scanning surface, whereas with a traditional scanner, you can’t see until it takes the scan and shows you the finished product, meaning it may or may not be crooked, upside down, knocked out of place when closing the lid, etc (of course that’s part of what editing software is for, but personally I’d prefer to minimize making those simple fixes where possible). I think that’s a great feature and I really enjoyed that about this product. However, the actual scan quality was AWFUL. I’m not a professional, but I know how to do basic photo editing, and certain fixes that are probably beyond a beginner level. I tried adjusting the settings on the scanner itself (which reflects in real time on the screen; again, great feature in theory), as well as going in and trying different fixes on the photos after scanning them. But whatever I tried, I could not get the photo scans I got from this scanner to look good, or even “okay.” The scans were all blurry and washed out, and even if I did figure out a way to fix it on the editing side, that was way more work than I was willing to put into it for the sake of digitizing family photos.I think one of the biggest problems was the quality of the scan surface. It’s made of cheap plastic, and just in the process of trying to figure out how the scanner worked, it became very scratched up (I was careful because I had seen some previous reviews that mentioned this). Those scratches also seemed to be part of the problem with scan quality.I decided to send this product back after a few hours of messing around with settings etc. It has some potentially really nice features, but they were executed poorly and cheaply. I found a similar product (though no negative scanner) in the same price range that has been wonderful in ease of use and scan quality. If you’re looking at this for photos, I would not recommend. If you’re looking at it for negatives, I can’t advise on that, but make sure you check other reviews that DO talk about that feature.
