Wow.. one word, great investment 💪🏻!!
This is a great deal, considering I got one that is basically identical to a name brand one from here on Amazon for over $65 😳. Now granted, I didn’t put these two to the test, as far as trying to cut them open, BUT they appear to be of very similar weight and likely close in strength, if not exactly the same, at far less of a price 🤷♀️. That’s a great value to this frugal mama! This lock comes with two keys like the other, is the same length, and I feel it will keep my bike nice and protected, just like the competition. I honestly think I paid for the name, not the actual quality, but again.. I didn’t try cutting both open, but I doubt that anybody who sees these types of locks will mess with our bikes. I really love them. I won’t go back to traditional bike locks ever again. These are awesome, & I highly recommend them.A great way to protect your investment 👍✔️. I may buy one more, so that the entire family has one. It’s more of a one bike size. Two bikes would be a very hard fit, in my personal opinion, IF doable. That would depend on what part of the bike you lock up at & where. Personally, just use one per bike, and play it safe.Well made- well functioning- cool & affordable bike lock that truly is what it says - heavy duty 💪🏻!5 stars!!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️** I hope that my review has proven helpful 😀.**

This is one BEEFY chain!
OK... let's dive right into this chain! As the headline indicates.... this is one VERY beefy chain! I wouldn't hesitate to leave my electric bike chained up to a post and leave it whilst I perused some stores and bought my favorite ice cream at the local dairy treat shop!Could it be cut? Yes... I'm guessing that if you had the proper grinder with the proper cutoff wheel on it... it probably COULD be cut off. Is anybody going to be hauling around a grinder with the proper cutoff wheel installed and be gutsy enough to grind away at the chain in the middle of a shopping area? Most likely not. But then again... I would guess that ANY bike chain could, eventually, be cut with a grinder and the proper cutoff wheel!Unlike most cable type bike chains... anyone feeling the heft of this chain would know they're going to get a battle if they attempted to cut it off a bike and might choose to find a bike with a lesser chain or cable lock. I'm not knocking cable locks... but this beast sure seems like it would be MUCH more difficult to cut off than your ordinary bike cable lock.I really appreciated the thick fabric covering that they used. It feels like it will wear really well and it protected the finish on my bike. I never felt, at anytime, that I had to worry about scratching the paint on my bike. The locking mechanism was simple... but it worked with ease and seemed to be very sturdy.I attempted to lock and unlock the chain before putting it on my bike. It was very easy to lock and unlock. The first time I put it on my bike, I didn't apply enough pressure to get the chain to fully lock and was unable to get the key out. After scratching my head for a moment, I realized that I hadn't heard the "snap" when I put the male end into the female receiver. I unlocked it and push the male end in with the proper amount of force and it made the familiar snapping sound and the key ejected slightly from the lock. Which... I really ended up liking that feature. If you don't get the lock fully engaged... you SHOULDN'T be able to get the key out.I'm guessing that was a built in design feature of the chain and I thought it was a brilliant idea! If you don't have the lock fully engaged in the proper alignment to lock up your bike... it lets you know by not allowing you to remove the key! Whether it was designed that way or not... I REALLY like that feature! The chain was long enough to reach around (through) my rear tire and around a pole... OR, it was long enough to chain the two rear tires of our two bikes together. I think you might POSSIBLY be able to chain two bikes to a pole... but it would have to be an ideal setup. So, I'd recommend buying two if you have two bikes that you need to chain. It'd just be WAY more convenient. The only thing I can think of that MIGHT be a downside to the chain is the weight of it. Like I've said several times... this is a VERY BEEFY chain and it has some weight to it. If you're worried about keeping the total weight of your bike to a minimum... this might not be the route you want to go with. But, if you're like me and you have a rear (or front) bag that is capable of toting around your chain... I'd recommend using this bike chain! I'm not sure I'd try to wrap this around the top tube or the head tube of your bike. It would probably work just fine... but I'm not sure I would do that myself.Now... in full disclosure... I received this bike chain in return for my unbiased review. Did it change the way I looked at this chain? Nope! Will I use this chain? Absolutely! It's a great chain and I'm not worried about the extra heft it'll add to my bike. I ride an electric bike and it can handle hauling around the weight of my body along with this chain. Would I have made a different review if I didn't like it? Certainly! I don't get paid for doing reviews... so, it's not like I'm doing this for a living. I enjoy reviewing items and I attempt to be as fair and honest as I can. Thus, there will be negatives in my reviews along with the positives.

not four sided, and lock mechanism is finicky
The chains are rounded, not four sided. Overall it seems ok (like every other similar cheap chain on Amazon). What I find really frustrating is the lock mechanism works by having a little plastic price pop up and displace the locking bolt. The problem is the plastic piece gets stuck in the locking bolt, so then you cannot put the chain back in.Overall I am a bit nervous to put this outside, given that they lied about the 4 sided chain links I am nervous they are also lying about material.

BE A HERO FOR YOUR BIKE!
Being the organizer and leader of a large social bicycle club here in Fort Lauderdale with over 1475 members and growing daily, the safety, health and well-being of our riders is always priority one. The same goes for our mounts as well. It is discussed before every slow roll. And one thing all my members know about me is that I love customization and personalization. And if it serves both safety and customization then roll on I say! My local bike shop could tell you how much they make from our patronage. And not just for technical stuff but for lots of other fun stuff as well, gadgets, toys and accessories are always welcome. This Retrospec Hero Plus Bicycle Chain Lock with Key is very impressive right out of the box. The first impression noted was the extreme heft of the lock, the weight is about that of a small automobile, thick as a brick it is. The chain itself is completely wrapped in canvas to protect your paint but you can certainly feel its girth. The deadbolt locking mechanisms are super strong but as always made of plastic-nothing new there, right? Two cut-out keys supplied, very nice, must be used to lock the unit. Does not allow use without them. Overall loving this set, but do be advised folks. This chain is fairly short for a bike lock, certainly not a deal breaker though at three feet. Absolutely a deterrent for the potential bands of thieves. Believe me in Retrospec you'll be glad you have it. And as always remember:Ride Safe, Ride Strong, Ride Happy!!
