It worked fine after I transferred the resistor from the old button ...
If you have a melody doorbell, music/chimes stop as soon as you release the button as opposed to finishing the cycle as my previous button did. Turns out, you need a resistor that connects the two cables under the button, which this unit doesn't come with. It worked fine after I transferred the resistor from the old button to this unit.Maybe the specs should mention that?

BEWARE, THIS IS PLASTIC
The ad said "Polished Brass", which most sane people would expect solid brass, especially with the extremely high price. You can get this equivilant at any box store for half that or less. Not only that, they are making me take it to a Kohl's Store which I do not go to instead of Post Office or UPS Store. They don't even make returning it easy. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY!!!

Fooled Me Once...
Well, you get what you pay for. I confess that I was mislead by the description of this doorbell button. It says "Polished Brass" and "Polished Brass Finish," leading me to think that this button was made of...brass...and was a steal at its advertised price. No to both points. The button is made of plastic that looks like polished brass. The truth is that we needed a new doorbell button. I wanted one that would look classy and was lighted. This button was easy to install, provides a lighted button, and unless you spend a lot of time around real polished brass (as we do) then I suppose from 3 feet away it looks like polished brass. I am still looking for a higher quality doorbell button made of actual brass.

Not wireless
Sooooo call me stupid.. I guess this is my fault.. but it didn’t say in the description that it needs to be wired in. My existing door bell system is wireless and I just needed the actual button. The system is fine, just the button was broken.. soo I bought it thinking it would just attach to the wall and work O.o make sure you know what you’re buying. Amazon sells a decent wireless door bell system for like $14

I have a new doorbell!
My old doorbell was cracked and there was no light. I didn't realize this one lit up. It was a little tough hooking it up to the existing wires. The receiving screws in the doorbell were in a slightly different location than my old doorbell. But after tinkering with it for a few mins I got it all connected and attached to the wall. And I was thrilled when it lit up. I guess I assumed it didn't light because of the low price. Installed it about 2 months ago and so far so good. Ding Dong!

It works for now
It looks nice installed. Finish is nice and the lighted button is a plus. I keep replacing doorbells because the plastic is so cheap it cracks and crumbles after only a couple years exposed to the elements. This is the first time I have purchase the Nutone brand so I am hoping it lasts longer than the other doorbells I have used.I think $8 is a little steep for a little piece of plastic and a light bulb.

Now I can hear when my Amazon packages arrive!
Doorbells are a funny thing to review. How often do you actually use your own ringer? If anything your opinion is probably based more on the actual chime. I've had this particular doorbell for a few months now and I've had the opportunity to use it a few times(forgetting my keys when I leave, etc.).The Good:Price. Pretty cheap compared to some. Who would have thought a doorbell could be $30+?Looks. This is subjective as some reviewers have said it looks 'cheap'. It looks like shiny brass, but upon inspection is definitely plastic. The button glows enough to illuminate your keys in case you forget to turn on the porch light. I like it, but I'm not a doorbell-enthusiast.The Bad:I can't really think of anything. I guess you could wish it was solid brass, but at this price point I think plastic is reasonable. The Verdict:I recommend this doorbell to anyone looking for a decent doorbell from a decent manufacturer(Broan/Nu-Tone). Installation was simple and looks better than the one originally on our home. Word of advise- get the type of ringer that matches best to what you're replacing. They're sold 'flush' like this or 'recessed' where your mounting location must have a 1/2"hole drilled-out for the guts of the doorbell. 5 stars for outstanding value!Jae

Works great. (Ignore this reviewer, he just loses things.)
Listen to my sad tale: I bought two nice brass doorbells and lost them. They did turn up, almost a year later, and after I had bought and installed this one.So, this one is plastic, and it is lighted--all the time, and it is cheaper. Aren't LED's wonderful? And of course it does work. (Doorbells which are lighted should be lighted all the time, because you only need the light before you push the doorbell.)Forget about my sad tale in the first paragraph. This doorbell works fine. If I ever install the brass one, unlighted, which cost twice as much, maybe i'll review it too. But this is just sour grapes. You are left to wonder if I would have rated this one five stars if I hadn't been still grieving my unfortunate misplacement. At least you know the back story, as if you cared. (See, i'm still bitter!)And obviously this one is good enough, or i would install one of the brass ones now that I found them.
