Experiment with your shower redo if you want, but be warned, this product is not the same as Schluter Kerdi membrane. You may assume that it is the same because it is orange, however this product is thicker, very slick, and feels very much like plastic. Kerdi has a mat finish with a fiber-like surface as well as a pre-printed grid which all works well to help adhere the unmodified mortar (yes, make sure to use to use unmodified) to the tile. Our fear with this product is that it may fail long term given that you have no way of knowing what it is really made of. For the same cost, I would rather use the Kerdi membrane that has been proven to work long term. Most users would not find out about a waterproofing failure for years down the road. We sent this back and purchased Kerdi to complete our shower redo. I have given this product 1 star because I feel it is deceptive to place it in a search for Kerdi (I made the mistake of purchasing thinking I was buying a product from Schluter). And I will also add, I have zero connection with Schluter company, I've just done my fair amount of DIY shower-build research.

It is waterproof. I used unmodified thin set for adhesive to concrete floor in a shower stall. It is not like schulter brand but it does the job. It is waterproof and is cheaper than other brands.

Came on time in quantity specified in perfect condition at the right price.

This product does not compare to Kerdi brand membrane at all. I don't trust this product to provide a waterproof barrier for tile. There's a thin fabric-like layer that just falls off as I try to apply it to the wall. Not satisfied or confident with this product.

If your looking at these reviews I guess your thinking of this product over Schluter, well don't do it. there wasn't much of a price difference and there is a very big difference in the product. I didn't even use it because I didn't trust it. sometimes for me trying to buy the cheaper stuff, finding out what the difference is then having to go buy the real stuff anyway, ends up costing so much that saying, that I hate so much really starts to fit, buy once cry once. But if your just patching up a rent house or flipping, do what you will, but thats why some people don't buy from you. sometimes it only takes a nickel to go first class. just buy the schluter.
