Good at removing tough odors
My dog got sprayed by a skunk during a hike. I was less than thrilled when I had to put her in my car (with leather seats) to get her back home.Skunk spray is an oily mix of sulfur compounds from what I've read, so it's critical to clean it off with something that will break down the oils and neutralize the smell. It's very persistent so you have to remove ALL of it to get rid of the smell.I've tried several specialty products for this but one of the best is a homebrew solution of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap. The recipe I use is 1 quart peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and a tablespoon or so of dish soap. The peroxide must be FRESH. Do yourself a favor-- buy a new bottle at the supermarket or pharmacy if you need to make this concoction.. Peroxide is not shelf stable and quickly decomposes into water and oxygen, so if it sat around for any length of time unsealed (or even an old sealed bottle), it may become ineffective and you won't get rid of the smell.I scrubbed the car as best I could with the peroxide/baking soda/soap mix, as well as an upholstery cleaner. I also sprayed the interior and wiped down some of the surfaces with a can of Ozium. Yes, they tell you not to apply Ozium directly to any surfaces, but screw that-- the stench of a skunk prevails over excessive caution. Each cleaning step diminished the smell noticeably, but after all scrubbing it was still there. OK, time to try something a little stronger. I bought this ozone generator and had it the next day. Luckily (sort of) my dog got sprayed on a Friday so I had the entire weekend to get rid of the smell. I plugged it in, threw it in the back of the car, and shut all the doors. After an hour, I opened the doors and aired the car out. This is important because ozone is very reactive and can be a pretty potent eye and mucous membrane irritant. You can get dizzy or worse if you breathe too much in, and this generator produces a LOT of ozone (which is what I wanted). The car smelled of ozone even after airing out for a while, but it DIDN'T smell of skunk. I put my nose up to the door panel and sniffed it. A slight smell of skunk lingered, but nothing like before. I gave the ozone generator another hour to work and called it good.As of now, there is no smell of skunk in the car AT ALL. I'm not sure how well the ozone generator would have worked by itself, but as part of a combined effort with the intensive cleaning, it was quite effective. This was a pretty bad usage case, because the smells can soak into the leather interior and they're contained in a relatively small area. Based on this, I've concluded that this thing is quite effective at removing odors. Please keep in mind that ozone is very reactive and can bleach the colors out of some fabrics or even degrade them. If in doubt, try to test the generator in an inconspicuous location (easier said than done, I know). I skipped this step because a skunkmobile would have been undriveable, whereas a car with a discolored interior but without the colossal stink of a fart-kitten is ugly but useable. In this case, pragmatism has to win out over esthetics. Also keep in mind that this thing will quickly produce toxic levels of ozone, so if you use it in an enclosed room, make sure there are no people or pets in it, and air it out completely afterwards. This thing can be a death sentence for a small animal in an enclosed room.I'm really glad I bought this. It gives me another option when dealing with persistent odors in enclosed spaces. It's simple to use, relatively inexpensive, and effective.

Gets Rid of Hard to Handle Smells
I didn't find out about ozone generating machines until recently. Now I wonder how I lived without them. This machine in particular is great at generating the ozone needed to clean the air in my SUV. I had this moldy musty smell in my car that just would not go away. vacuuming helped a little but the aging interior just collected smells that would not easily go away. The ozone neutralizes the odor causing bacteria and other particles and makes the smell in the car almost non-existent. The only scent that is left is the ozone fragrance similar to being outside after a hard lightning storm. It is not good to breathe too much of it in so after about 40 minutes of using the machine I used a fan with all the windows and doors open to blow out the ozone. I don't smell the moldy smell anymore, but only a little sweet smelling ozone lingers behind. The machine is well built and hefty feeling. The cable is industrial grade looking and the knob feels tight and solid. The timer goes to 120 minutes so 2hrs is the max at a time. My timer for 40 minutes worked great. This ozone generator worked brilliantly for me and I am eager to use it in the house next.

Great tool for specific needs
Ozone generators are legitimate, quality purifiers and sanitizers. I had to do some research to understand how they work, ultimately they oxidize contaminants. This can eliminate most odors and pathogens. In fact, I work at a fire department and these are what we use to sanitize ambulances after certain calls. The ozone penetrates into the tiniest of spaces and kills germs of all kinds. Please note that ozone can be a serious irritant however, do not use in any space that will be occupied without first airing it out. That means that this would not be appropriate for general home use on any regular basis, but may be helpful to eliminate infrequent smoke, pet, mildew, or other such odors. You absolutely must stay out of space during use and air it out afterword.I would also note that it uses high voltage and can have some perfectly normal internal sparking so do not use anywhere there's gas fumes.I have used it to remove odor from a car we purchased and it worked great for that need.

It WORKS. Smoke smell Gone from car.
Was skeptical, but not anymore. Bought a car that belonged to a smoker. (I know.... why???.... A great price). I couldn't take it after a week. The smoke smell hit you in the face the second you opened the door. So, bought this. One treatment, and the smell was gone. Did 2 one-hour treatments to be sure. Second treatment, ran the blower on recycled air to get it into the heater Plenum. The ozone smell lingered a few days, then gone. And? NOT ONE HINT OF SMOKE SMELL. It's like a new car. I will never doubt this thing ever again.

Works wonders
The home we just purchased has some water getting into the basement from a bad downspout connector that the previous owner didn't address. We corrected the problem, but we still had that musty, moldy smell in the basement. We followed the instructions and ran the devices for a maximum of 120 minutes for a few days, along with a dehumidifier, a fan, and the smell is gone. This unit is well worth the investment and will help clean the air in any musty, moldy space. Please read and follow the manufacturer's instructions for safety. The only negative is that you can only run it for 120 minutes at a time.
