An interesting book for sports fans, easy read

This was an interesting book and quite easy to read. If you are a tennis fan or any sports fan, this book will be enjoyable. It has a nice history of the tennis player and is quite revealing of aspects of his personality. You might not be familiar with otherwise.Again the book is an easy read. Very pleasant and informative. I would recommend for any sports fan but focused on those that prefer tennis.

Book novak djovic

It's been a while since I read, my attempt at a recap of this:It talks about his life from when he was a kid in Serbia to becoming a big name in tennis. The book mentions his many Grand Slam wins, his matches against other famous players like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, how he plays the game. It also looks at his personal life, including his focus on health, fitness, and mental strength, which helped him a lot. This is a tribute to Djokovic a great and really detailed book that tells the story of Djokovic's amazing career and life. The author's research and writing make this book a good read for tennis fans and sports lovers. The book's best part is how it shows both the good and bad sides of Djokovic, showing not just his wins but also his hard times and how he grew as a player and a person. Youwill appreciate the stories and personal stuff that make the story more interesting. The parts about his matches with Federer and Nadal are really good, showing how these great players made each other better. This book is a must-read for anyone who likes tennis or wants to read a story about hard work and success.

Quick Read & Engaging

This is an insightful book about Novak Djokovic. It's a quick read. I started Sunday evening and finished Monday morning. The book gives an account of Novak's life from his war-torn childhood right up through winning his 24th Grand Slam. It does this by referencing other interviews and articles about Novak. The author clearly had no direct access to his subject. So, much of what Novak is quoted as saying either comes from Novak's 2013 autobiography "Serve to Win", an often-cited podcast interview, or from what Novak has said publicly on-court after matches or later in press conferences. So while there's nothing really new from Novak here, it's still an engaging summary and highlight reel of the most accomplished tennis player of all time. Almost all of the quotes attributed to Novak's father, Srdjan, come from a Newsweek interview. Some of Novak's key matches are highlighted, and here the author shines in his ability to not only summarize the matches, but to really give the reader the feeling of being there. How the players appeared to be performing and handling the pressure (or succumbing to the pressure). How the fans were responding to game play. Photographs of the matches are included as well. I was surprised to see the tiny crowd of spectators at Novak's first tour win. Just a step above the crowd size at a high school tennis match! There are statistics - generally in the form of charts, graphs, infographics - sprinkled throughout the book which help to put Novak's accomplishments into perspective compared to his contemporaries, namely Nadal and Federer.Novak's refusal to take the COVID vaccine was handled somewhat poorly by the author. Leading up to the chapter that discusses the situation in detail, the author several times references the "debacle," suggesting Novak was the cause of the "debacle," or the bad guy, or the unreasonable guy in the situation. The author seems to feel that Novak exercising his choice to NOT take the vaccine has harmed Novak's reputation. I personally believe the opposite. I believe more people now respect him for standing up for his principles, even though doing so meant him giving up on a substantial amount of prize money, some lucrative sponsorships, and potential Grand Slam titles. I think the only "debacle" was the way much of the world treated Novak in the moment, with the Australian government leading the way. For example, when Novak traveled to Melbourne to compete in the 2022 Australian Open he had been granted a vaccine medical exemption by the tournament organizers (due to the fact that he had just recovered from COVID and therefore had all the antibodies he needed; a vaccine would have been pointless) and was told he could play. It wasn't until AFTER he arrived in Australia that the government revoked his visa and deported him. Novak received a lot of undeserved bad press for this. It should have been made clear to Novak up front that he would not be allowed to enter the country without vaccination. This was 100% the fault of the tournament organizers. He should have never been granted the vaccine exemption by the tournament organizers if the government itself wouldn't allow him in the country. Yes, THAT was a debacle, but it wasn't Novak's fault. This book is lacking in some key facts surrounding the "debacle." Even though the coverage of this situation was handled poorly, and doesn't give any true intellectual, factual insight into the Australia situation, it doesn't detract from the book. It does, however, make one wonder about who writes our history books. But I digress. (Note: this part of my review is the longest because I feel the need to set the record straight - because the book most certainly did not do that. The situation doesn't take up more than a couple of pages in the book. It's not representative of what the book is about.)I have read autobiographies by Andre Agassi ("Open") and Jimmy Connors ("The Outsider"). This book doesn't compare because it's not an autobiography. Again, nothing new here. But it's still a compelling, interesting, inspirational read that I highly recommend. If you have a child who is an athlete, this book could be inspirational and a good motivator, unlike the aforementioned autobiographies which are not at all inspirational by their nature.

Cool Book to Have, nothing game changing

This Book is for the Nole enthuisiast, want to relive a match? This book has great details of the stakes and how the flow of the match was going. Want to see why Nole is amazing compared to other greats? There's plenty of stats and charts to show you his greatness. It even covers the controversial parts of his career including his protest against vaccination and his debacle with the Australian Government. The pictures are awesome and they definitely are for the ultimate nole fan. Don't expect something like other autobiograhies that isn't already in a podcast or something you can watch online. Hopefully, that will come when Novak retires. It's an great syntehesis of existing things on nole in one book. It's a nice cover too.
