I wanted to love it, because it is such a good idea. Sadly it is a bit noisy (although careful equalisation can help) and sounds more like a microphone being knocked than a kick drum. To be fair, for the price and given that it is so simply constructed, that is probably a completely unrealistic expectation! There is not that much bass response, but if you put it through a good bass amp it does its job fairly well. If you turn the bass up too high it feeds back, so be careful on the controls. It sounds good in combination with a cajon, giving it a bit more of a "push" when required. .
